new marilyn manson "eat me drink me" album
i way dig MM. i've liked MM since they changed from the spooky kids and had thier "first" album portrait of an american family, seen them 2x in concert, loved everything they did.
until this one. i'm not a fan of it. technically it is clean, spot on, well executed. but it seems a bit....sterile....there is some feeling missing. the songs seem very overdramatic and theatrical, but a bit too "Brooding." they don't seem to have the energy and zazz (that's right, i used the word zazz) of previous songs, such as dope show, cake and sodomy, mobscene, etc. no, i don't know a damn thing about music, but i know what i like. i have no problem with bands changing thier sound, MM changes each album. but this one, i'm not such a big fan of....perhaps if i keep listening to it i will eventually like it, but there isn't any songs on it that immediately "get" me... what do you think about it?

I thought Golden Age was the same way. It went downhill for me after Twiggy up and left, he wrote all their best stuff. I found 'Spade' to be the only really strong song on Golden Age (and even then it wasn't that great), and wasn't taken with the rest, and it is for this reason that I haven't yet listened to Eat Me Drink Me.
From someone like you who's taste for Mr Warner seems to go further than mine, it doesn't sound very promising...

I think this album has too much of a "campy" feel to the lyrics and the music is less "industrial" than it has been in the past. It has kind of a stripped down sound to it.
I've also been a big fan of MM for years, I saw them live for the first time back in 1994, and was really expecting something quite a bit different. I really liked The Golden Age... and was hoping for some more along those lines. |

I was about to start this thread! I am the biggest MM fan and have seen him live a number of times, have all his stuff, yada yade. BUT Eat me Drink me, SUCKS!! There is no edge to it at all! Where did all the hardcore go???? The whole CD he whines about women, and frankly a lot of the lyrics I found to be annoying. The only song I like is "If I was your vampire". I am so sad. I want my old MM back!

This is what happens to a man who lets go of Dita.
But, really, I don't know. I'm just speculating. I'd much rather hear him talk than sing.
