The Postal Service - Give Up... definitely one of my new favorites right now. Mates of State - Team Boo (if you like indie and want something a little ummm weird... in a good way) Anna Nalick - Wreck of the Day. Finally a female singer with some skill. Jem- Finally Woken. She's freakin' amazing. (If you enjoy pop/techno... with a bit more singing added.) |

jwoody send me a PM once you've purchased Simple Things - I'm curious whether or not you'll agree on this. |

Woman King I enjoy when listening but have to be in a certain mood to enjoy fully. They're great musicians and make great music but I didn't immediately connect with any of the songs like I've done with other songs of theirs I've heard. You know just as soon as I hear it I'm like "Oh I really like that!" However when I purchased it I had also just gotten other albums from other artists. You know how that can be. I haven't really taken the time to sit down and absorb it. For all I know if I did it would really grow on me. I'll be sure and do that now and see. If my opinion changes any I'll let you know. Asta!! |
I don't by a lot of CDs anymore either (not that I ever bought a lot but I bet I don't buy 6 a year anymore) however I recently bought two.
Dave Matthews Band - Stand Up - a real departure for the band. There is really something on this CD for just about everyone and I listen to it once or twice a day, everyday. Matchbox Twenty - Mad Season - had the first one and been meaning to buy more. Got around to it because I went to buy the DMB listed above and these guys were the last thing I heard getting out of the car at the store. |
Quote:
My latest are The Postal Service- Give Up (Amazing cd) The Gorillaz-Demon Days (Has some really awesome tracks) The Weakerthans- Reconstruction Site (Good Canadian Indie music) Jeff Buckley- Grace (RIP:() |
My most recent cd that I had purchased was:
System of a Down - Mezmerize (Some good tracks on it, some funny ones too) |
Oasis -- Don't believe The Truth
SOAD -- Mezmerize Dave Matthews Band -- Stand Up Z-Trip -- Shifting Gears Audioslave -- Out of Exile Next up this week are the new Static-X and Foo Fighters albums. |
The last time I picked up a cd was in Berlin, I was looking through the rock section and came across Jimi Hendrix: Blues. Although a bit suspicious of what the compilation would contain, I bought and listened to it, and it was amazing! It definately shows the influence blues had for him, and how well he could play it. It has some original Hendrix (such as an even blusier version of Red House) as well as covers (Born Under a Bad Sign).
A definate must have for Hendrix fans. |
Just got the Coldplay and White Stripes discs. Haven't listened to either the whole way through yet
|
Aesop Rock - Bazooka Tooth
The Streets - Original Pirate Material The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free I have no idea how I haven't owned these before now. All fantastic! |

the new foo fighters double disc -- decent, nothing that drives me crazy.
|
The Flaming Lips - Fight Test EP
Bjork - Post Bjork - Medulla |
Vader - Revelations
This album reeks of classicicity. |
Circa Survive - "Juturna" (blows my mind away, highly recommended)
Coldplay - "X&Y" (beautiful music) Weezer - "Make Believe" (meh.) |
Adema - Planets
Audioslave - Out Of Exile Foo Fighters - In Your Honor Static-X - Start A War Abd there is 3 others but can't remember right now! |
Quote:
I like it a lot. I'm not sure whether it is better or worse than 'When It Falls', though 'Destiny' is definitely their best song from both albums. I'm happy to have both in my collection. I've just played both albums randomly through Media Player and I can't really say there's a lot of difference in quality between the two. |
Finally bought copies of some stuff I've has as mp3 for ages:
Travis - The Man Who Coldplay - Parachutes Keane - Hopes and fears and I also purchased the new Coldplay, X & Y |

So I bought a book called The Encyclopedia of Heavy Metal a couple weeks ago. I brought it to work and let a friend of mine read it. He is quite a bit older than I am, and is into similar music, which I think is very cool. Anyway, while he was reading the book he realized that he hasn't been listening to as much older rock/early metal as he used to and he didn't know why. Today he brought me some classics.
Rainbow - Down to Earth Uriah Heep - Best of... Joe Satriani - Flying in a Blue Dream Deep Purple - Machine Head (I lost my copy recently) |
The Polyphonic Spree - Together We're Heavy
Andrew Bird and the Mysterious Production of Eggs Tom Waits - Small Change |

New "Queens of the Stoneage." Its ok. It has to grow on me.
|
Aerosmith - Greatest Hits (this is their classic stuff).
|
Get Behind me Satan - white stripes
|
Quote:
If this is the first of their albums you've bought and you dig it, I'd suggest picking up Still Feel Gone (their 2nd album). Speaking of Uncle Tupelo, my most recent purchase is the new Son Volt (i.e. Jay Farrar of U.T.) album Okemah and the Melody of Riot. Really liking it. |
Quote:
For me, our most recent purchase was: 1. Twilight Singers - She Loves You 2. Le Tigre - This Island 3. The Arcade Fire - Funeral |
all american rejects - new one. can't remember the name. good stuff
|
Hmmm..
I am pretty picky and don't buy many CDs, but I have a few that I recently bought and love The Streets - A Grand Don't Come for Free (I love the accent and beat, plus is tells a story) Oasis -Don't Believe the Truth Tricky - Vulnerable |
Quote:
Jumpin - I'm really liking the Wrens as well. Already loved "She Sends Kisses", it just builds up so awesomely. |
