GWAR
I've been getting into GWAR a bit lately. I know a lot of their stuff is really funny, but some of their lyrics make no sense at all. Is this by design or were they just yelling random shit? Here, let me give an example: Meat Sandwich lyrics
What does everyone else think of them? |

GWAR is a great "kitschy" band. They do put on a great show (when they really, really try). I say kitschy because, by itself, the music is a little ... hmm. But live they're great.
A lot of the heavy, industrial types (Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, Ministry, GWAR etc.) did/do "stream of consciousness" lyrics. |

I've seen GWAR a couple of years ago, and a couple of months later saw Neil Diamond, but I think that just says something about my taste in music. Calling GWAR an interesting band would be an understatement, I think. They are skilled musicians, but I think even those who don’t like their particular genre of music should appreciate the band for their highly theatrical show. A GWAR concert is clearly an event. I enjoyed the show I went to and truth be told would love to see them again.

I've seen GWAR twice...in two consecutive years over a decade ago...probably '89-'90-ish. They were awesome in those days. But I can't say I would ever drop a dime for a GWAR cd. They're definitely best savored live and juicy.
