Nine Days (breaking the stereotype)
I'm sure if you know them, you probably know them because of their hit single "story of a girl." That high a level of pure, unadultered pop is probably frowned upon by this forum, and usually by me too. But please, read on.
About a year ago I found another one of their songs on my computer...I don't know how it got there, I don't remember downloading it. But I listened to it, and loved it. I went to CDNow.com and looked to see if theyd released anything new, and saw that they hadn't since 2000. But I continued to research further, and found that they had a second album due a year or two later, but right before the release they got in a huge fight with their label Sony, as a result of which Sony kicked them off the label and kept the rights to the album, allowing it to never be released Well years have passed, and Sony finally allowed Nine Days to release it, but not to profit from it. They only way to hear it now is to download it, which is legal and encouraged by the band. Now I don't think they have the best guitarist I've ever heard...nor the best singer, nor drummer. But they mesh almost perfectly. They create a sound that feels so uncontrived, so seamless, and is so incredibly easy to listen to. I encourage you to download these, and just sit back and listen with open ears. I think most of you will love it, like I do. I've listed these in order of most favorite to least favorite: Bitter (live) (must listen) Ocean Still Here Marvelous Don't Look Back Favorite Song (intro sucks, rest is good) So there's a couple...if you're interested in the rest of the album or their earlier music, you can download them at this site http://www.mr-tea.com/ND/ There you go guys, give them a shot |
