Song for your significant other
There are many out there but what best describes or reminds you most of your significant other.......
Mine is "My Life" by the Beatles....... It best describes the condition and how I feel with the ever lovely and gracious Ms. Lady Sage. Quote:

I just love people who use the excuse "I use/do this because I LOVE the feeling/joy/happiness it brings me" and expect you to be ok with that as you watch them destroy their life blindly following. My response is, "I like to put forks in an eletrical socket, just LOVE that feeling, can't ever get enough of it, so will you let me put this copper fork in that electric socket?" |

When You're Mad - Ne-Yo
"When You're Mad" It's just the cutest thing When you get to fussing (cussing) Yelling and throwing things I just wanna eat you up I don't mean no disrespect When I start staring Knowing that it makes you madder I'm sorry but seeing you mad is so sexy [Hook] Could it be the little wrinkle over your nose When you make your angry face That makes me wanna just take off all your clothes And sex you all over the place Could it be the lil' way you storm around That makes me wanna tear you down Baby, I'm not sure, but one thing that I do know is [Chorus] Every time you scream at me I wanna kiss you When you put your hands on me I wanna touch you When we get to arguing Just gotta kiss you Baby, I don't know why it's like that But you're just so damn sexy When you're mad Baby, don't think I don't take you seriously But I just can't help the fact that your attitude excites me (so exciting) And you know ain't nothing better Then when we get Mad together and have angry sex (I'll blow you out) Then we forget what we were mad about [Hook] Could it be the little wrinkle over your nose When you make your angry face That makes me wanna just take off all your clothes And sex you all over the place Could it be the lil' way you storm around That makes me wanna tear you down Baby, I'm not sure, but one thing that I do know is [Chorus 2x] Every time you scream at me I wanna kiss you When you put your hands on me I wanna touch you When we get to arguing Just gotta kiss you Baby, I don't know why it's like that But you're just so damn sexy Every time you scream at me I wanna kiss you When you put your hands on me I wanna touch you When we get to arguing Just gotta kiss you Baby, I don't know why it's like that But you're just so damn sexy When you're mad

I thought about posting this song in the daily lyric thread, because it's been my daily theme song going on four years now, but it's more fitting here.

Oddly enough I don't yet have a song with my current boyfriend of five years. Maybe because of our different musical tastes.
With my first real love it was this one. Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues by Elton John Don't wish it away Don't look at it like it's forever Between you and me I could honestly say That things can only get better And while I'm away Dust out the demons inside And it won't be long Before you and me run To the place in our hearts Where we hide And I guess that's why They call it the blues Time on my hands Could be time spent with you Laughing like children Living like lovers Rolling like thunder under the covers And I guess that's why They call it the blues Just stare into space Picture my face in your hands Live for each second Without hesitation And never forget I'm your man Without me girl Cry in the night if it helps But more than ever I simply love you More than I love life itself And I guess that's why They call it the blues Time on my hands Could be time spent with you Laughing like children Living like lovers Rolling like thunder under the covers And I guess that's why They call it the blues Wait on me girl Cry in the night if it helps But more than ever I simply love you More than I love life itself And I guess that's why They call it the blues Time on my hands Could be time spent with you Laughing like children Living like lovers Rolling like thunder under the covers And I guess that's why They call it the blues Not sure if he knew that's the song I thought of when I thought of him though. |

Mrs. Hat and I have three:
"You Shook Me All Might Long", AC/DC. Put it on a mix tape for her in college, and it kind of stuck. "Hey Nineteen", because "We got nothin' in common", and "The Cuervo Gold, the fine Columbian, make tonight a wonderful thing. Say it again...." Gotta love college romance. Finally, Roxy Music, "More than This." There is nothing.

"Never My Love" by The Association is probably the closest thing Grancey and I have to something being "our song." Not long after we first met, we were riding together in a car and that song came on the radio and we were both singing along like the idiots we are. When they got to the refrain and actually sang the words "never my love" we both leaned over toward each other and nearly bonked heads. From that day forward, we perform the same ritual by leaning our heads together on the refrain of that song.
It's really funny if we're in different cars listening to the same station and it comes on the radio. If you were in a nearby car, you would see two people in different cars suddenly lean violently over to the side without any signal from each other and then straighten back up again, only to repeat it several more times.

Billy Joel -- She's Got A Way
She's got a way about her I don't know what it is But I know that I can't live without her She's got a way of pleasin' I don't know why it is But there doesn't have to be a reason anywhere She's got a smile that heals me I don't know what it is But I have to laugh when she reveals me She's got a way of talkin' I don't know why it is But it lifts me up when we are walkin' anywhere She comes to me when I'm feelin' down Inspires me without a sound She touches me and I get turned around She's got a way of showin' How I make her feel And I find the strength to keep on goin' She's got a light around her And ev'rywhere she goes a million Dreams of love surround her ev'rewhere She comes to me when I'm feelin' down Inspires me without a sound She touches me, I get turned around oh oh oh She's got a smile that heals me I don't know why it is But I have to laugh when she reveals me She's got a way about her I don't know what it is But I know that I can't live without her any way

Bjork's Violently Happy
Self's Waiting and Hey, Deceiver The Beta Band's She's the One Jack Johnson's Bubble Toes and G. Love & Special Sauce's Baby's Got Sauce The first because it fits the moments when we're together and things are good. The second two when things are not working. The third just because. The fourth because he played it for me on our first date (I hate shoes) and I used to sneak it into the CD player every time he left me alone in the car. The fifth because we used to throw the lyrics around when I'd be cooking dinner and he'd come in behind me, hug me and kiss the back of my neck.

I have many but I will post three:
First is Death Cab For Cutie's "Passenger Sear" from their album Transatlanticism (which is spectacular; filled with love and misery). Talks about the security and safety felt in the tiny insignificant moments between lovers, and how in those moments a feeling of endless joy and love can hit you. even briefly. To quote the song: Quote:

Aww... this is a sweet thread. I like seeing everyone's "Our Song."
For me, we don't have one song that's "Ours" yet, but there are a handful that bring ktspktsp to mind immediately when I hear them: Indigo Girls: "Power of Two" Wilco: "Jesus, Etc." Modest Mouse: "Float On" (or any of the first three songs on that album) Sigur Ros: "Staralfurinn" The Band: "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" Anything by The Magnetic Fields Anything by Drive-By Truckers Bonnie Tyler: "Total Eclipse of the Heart" Our favorite karaoke song! Almost all of these are from the first few weeks/months of our relationship and hearing them brings back feelings from that time. And then some of them are just songs that we ended up playing over and over again during long road trips, and became favorites for both of us (he introduced me to a lot of music).

Stand By Me
Artist: Ben E. King Peak: #4 Lyrics by: Jeffrey Leiber/Michael Stoller Year: 1961 Week peaked: 6/18/1961 When the night has come And the land is dark And the moon is the only light we'll see No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid Just as long as you stand, stand by me..... And darlin, darlin, stand by me, oh now now stand by me Stand by me, stand by me If the sky that we look upon Should tumble and fall And the mountains should crumble to the sea I won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tear Just as long as you stand, stand by me And darlin, darlin, stand by me, oh stand by me Stand by me, stand by me, stand by me-e, yeah ----- guitar ----- Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me, oh now now stand by me Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me Darlin, darlin, stand by me-e, stand by me Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me....

The Shape I Found You In
by Girlyman You were spoken for I spent twenty lifetimes at your door But your heart was busy within Building bomb shelters under your skin That's the shape I found you in That's the shape I found you in I was calling to you It was one thing I knew how to do But my heart tried to cheat Building safety nets under my feet So if I fell I would fall right in That's the shape you found me in You were delivered to me We were closed as the stores on Christmas Eve So I felt around in the dark Building rope ladders into your heart Climbing hand over hand to get in That's the shape I found you in That's the shape I found you in Gilda
