Headlight problem...

1990 ford probe 2.2 non turbo

this morning the headlights worked.

goto leave my friend Jen's house at dark thrity tonight and headlights are not working. in either low beam or high beam the high beam indicator is on. running lights and rear lights work.

replaced headlight fuse with a known good fuse still the same.

help if nothing else on Sunday I will be buying a relay, a mini fuse panel, a toggle switch and cut the headlight wires right before where the headlight plugs in car goes away forever in April anyways.

get a test light and start tracing the wires for continuity, headlight circuits are pretty simple might just be a burnt up wire or check the grounds under the hood, they could be rotted enough to cause some problems.

Is your battery fully charged? If not you could have a problem with your alternator. I just replaced mine yesterday and my headlights are brighter than they've ever been.

Headlights, brake lights, your horn (large coil), and motors (heater and such) all require relays to supply the current flow required. I would look at the headlight relay and its connections before customising the vehicle wiring diagram.

Thanks all, The problem is fixed now.

It turned out to be a bad ground connection.

Cool! That didn't cost much. As I said above, check those connections.
