Summer car projects

A quick search didn't turn up anything, so here goes. What are you planning on doing to your cars this summer? Here's a link to my website describing what I'm doing, with some pics as well. You can peruse the website beyond this link, of course, and make sure y'all sign the guestbook!

My project!

I am planning to start a street rod. My main ride is in good enough shape im just going to touch up some paint chips and replace some undercoating in the wheel wells

Well we all know my project http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...0&pagenumber=1

Man that car is gonna be nice with a 3.8 SC in it.....nice choice!

Scorps 04-20-2004 08:32 AM

Man you need to find some new colours for you background..my damn eyes hurt now:(

But im going to be doing small things with my Shelby-Z:D

like:
-New Exhaust to make it sound badass
-Get all new Decals
-Get body done up and a new paint job(I know people so it will be cheap):p

I get to fix up this beauty!

Already got it running, hard part is going to be pretty much completely rewiring the convertible hardtop aparatus and such.

I get the pleasure of putting this into the 10's. New roller motor has do go in, along with the new fuel system, converter, rear end, cage, lexan...

rewire, rewire, and then rewire some more. I made the terrible mistake a couple of years ago of having a shop install my alarm. they made a total hash of it. Wires are dangling all over the place under the dash, they disconnected the driving lights, and somehow they got it so when I honk the horn, the hazards flash. This is doubly puzzling since it's a siren, not a horn alarm.

Never got around to fixing it yet, but this summer the dash gets disassembled and all new wiring run, neatly this time. That'll probably take up most of the summer right there based on how slow I work ;)

My '97 Dectective series Grand Marquis is gonna get pimped out. Already have the appointment for back tinted windows. Next is an engine rebuild and wheel/tire change.

Oh man that is weird who does someone fuck up so bad that when you honk the horn your hazards come on....I would sue the shop that did that....if you can!

I hate wiring problems. We had a 1988 Olds Cutlass Calais that all of a sudden...out of the blue, wouldn't turn off if you had the headlights on. When you shut the headlights off, the engine would quit. This was handy in the winter if you had to run inside real quick...could take the keys with you AND leave the car run. Even lock if it you wanted. Of course, if you turned the headlights on with the engine NOT running, it wouldn't start it...imagine how freaky that would be!

The white one ;) it's just oozing with potential, but the rust is a little discouraging :(

Nice car WarWagon! Almost bought one instead of my second 68 Nova. Those cars have great potential.

I have a few projects for this summer.
1968 Nova SS - the 383 gets a new cam, small NOS shot, Centerforce dual friction clutch
1968 Nova - 402 big block will need minor things, like ditching the damn evil Q Jet carb, little stuff though, mostly just driving and having fun in it, low 14's for a total investment of $1800 is a blast with a big block:D
1972 Nova - the g/f's car - new 355, rebuild a TH350 to go in it, rebuild the rearend +install a Powertrax locker (she loves to race her cute little Nova)

Those are "my" real projects, but I'll have my hands in a bunch of others. Friend of mine is restoring his 66 Monaco- at least it is a 383 big block. We still have headers to put in and the new exhaust. We put a new timing chain, Edelbrock intake, MSD 6AL, 600 Holley and new tires. Drives like a new car.;) My brother is freshening his 383 in his 68 Camaro SS so I will get to help with that. My dad's 65 Chevelle SS will be on the road for the first time in 22 years. I love that car, he has owned it since 1970, he's drug it from one end of the country to the other. I'm so glad my mom wouldn't let him sell it. My cousin has a 66 Mustang coupe we are throwing a 351W roller motor into. His 87 LX is in pieces already awaiting the new 347+ATI Procharger. Lots of money, but lots of fast.:D In reality its probably more than I will be able to get done, but i'm gonna try.

Great thread idea!

I'm going to try to get my motorcycle back in good looking/running condition. It sat outside too often and is dull and dirty. Worse, I have a leaking carburetor and the rear air shock won't hold air. I pushed it around back and got the tank and trim off but haven't really started on anything yet.

omid 05-08-2004 02:19 PM

gonna trick out my 2000 galant. probably gonna get new wheels, new exhaust, cai, dunno.

big_bubba 05-08-2004 10:04 PM

Hopefully gonna get my 383 Dodge Dart on the road. "Crosses fingers"

Astrocloud 05-09-2004 04:25 PM

I guess I'm one of those guys who just takes his car in for oil changes and the occasional wash.

Damn DEI37 looks like your project is coming along nicely......that engine swap shouldn't be too bad since you got the whole engine, tranny and wiring harness
