what do you think of the 2003 ford focus i got one and i wanrted to knwo your opinion on this

It's probably o.k. as an economical option. Do the maintenence and drive sanely... it should serve you well.

*edit* Secondly, as long as you just want it as a daily, econo car thats fine...I hope you aren't looking to "mod" it.

Most Ford's I have been in, have had a very archaic sort of interior, not as inviting as most imports. Also my family used to own a tempo...eek so many problems.

Perhaps ford has gotten better as far as reliability goes...however totoyta's have a much better resale value.

well then, with the exception of being a ford :P you chose a good car. They are reasonably reliably, comfortable, and they serve their purpose as an economy car well. So long as you dont think its a sports car, you should be happy with it.

I don't quite understand why everyone hates Ford, but the Focus is a really good car. The older ones have had reliability problems, but they finally got good enough for Consumer Reports to recommend them this year. It's a great little car. If you're looking at that one, there are lots other to consider too. Civic, Corolla, Sentra, Protege. The Focus is probably right under the Civic and Corolla in terms of "goodness". I've driven a 2000 Black Focus ZX3 and it was a hell of a lot more fun than my 1995 Geo Prizm (Corolla). They also sip gas and are pretty practical.

Except that a ford focus (2000-2002) with 30k miles goes for about $3500 at the local auctions to dealers, less than half what you would get for a civic or corolla with comparable year and miles.

My friend's family just bought one, they've had no problems and seem to like it enough. Seems like a good buy, if, like the people say, you just need a day-to-day car.

So not worth the money. You'd have to drive the honda hybrid civic for about 500,000 miles before you break even compared to the cost of a civic lx. At least that is what we calculated at the honda dealership I used to work for. The prius (before the 2004 update at least) isn't nearly as good a car as the honda. The honda insight is probably the worst honda ever.
