What's up with the Ford Focus ?
I see the Ford Focus on almost every reality show (it's always a contest prize) they're everywhere all the time it's mad! Commercials, banners... They must have really good markup on that car.
Does anyone here have one of the new models? |

I've only test driven the new baseline model Focus, but my take is that it's a decent enough compact car. It handles well, it's fuel efficient, and Ford has been improving the quality of their cars and trucks in the past few years. It's not quite at the level of a Honda civic, of course, but anyone looking to get a cheaper coupe or sedan should probably consider the Focus. TBH, the Ford Fiesta is a better choice if you don't quite need the room of a Focus. I think it could very well be the best car in its price range, at least in the United States.

the 2012 models are very nice. they are sporty, and very fuel efficent. they seem to be better made than the previous year models.

Now if I recall correctly, the new Focus is closer to the European Spec of that model than what Ford has saddled the US with. It makes its debut amid a lot of critical praise from the automotive press. The old Focus didn't have a lot going for it so I think they will have to hype it to an extreme to get people to at least consider it as a small car alternative to the offerings from the Asian manufacturers. I haven't read about it, but I don't doubt there is an SVT version in the near future.
An aside: I went to test drive a Fiesta. Its a sharp looking vehicle that has promise as a small commuter car. When I closed the door, my thigh and shoulder were pressed into it, no place to put my left arm. Barely had enough head room and if there was another person my size (6' 240#) sitting in the passengers seat, our shoulders would have been touching. To say it was cramped is an understatement. Didn't even bother taking it off the lot. |
