Fancy!

If I could get a decent fuel management system to go with that beast, I'll bet I could get 30 mpg out of it for regular use. 30 mpg Monday through Friday, and 400 hp on the weekends? It's every enthusiast's dream.

I wonder how/if it's related to the Radical V8 of the same origin? Radical V8 Progress Report - September 2004
will-ruh-VEL, My 600+hp turbo DOHC straight six (2JZGTE) can get high 20mpg cruising on the highway...but I like the lightness-of-being of these 'busa based motors above. |
Both use Hayabusa heads, but the Hartley motor uses a wider angle between cylinder banks (75* vs 72* for the Radical engine). I think beyond that, the differences are minimal.

140 lb. V8 seems extremely light...how much would a typical racing V8 weigh?
|
A typical Chevy 350 weighs ~650 lbs.
A Formula 1 engine has a minimum weight of 210 lbs. |
I would love to have this in my car!
|
I think I just--yep, I did. I came a little.

I know it isn't that difficult to turbocharge a 'busa motor. I wonder if these could stand up to it :) |
