Night race should make for a different feel to the action. I like having new circuits on the calendar. Now if we could only get an exciting one here in the US!

Just for the next couple hours, I'm gonna be a McLaren fanboy....a couple days ago I got a call from a potential customer, chatted a bit about their special application for a temp control gadget, turns out it's the R&D engineering manager for McLaren! Might be a fun project even if they don't win Singapore. go red!

This city has gone F1 crazy and I can't get downtown.

I'm really looking forward to this race. Bernie wants to run a night race in Japan as well.

Japan to be next night race?

(GMM) Trackside at F1's first night venue Singapore, F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone admitted he has set his sights on the next floodlit host.

"We're going to try to get Japan to do it," the 77-year-old billionaire said on Friday.

"It will be prime time in China and this part of the world and in Europe it will be at a sociable hour to watch rather than the middle of the night.

"I hope when people see this they realize it wasn't just a stupid idea," Ecclestone added.

However, he played down talk that the spectacle alone is strong enough to consider convincing European promoters to hold races at night.

"It's not cheap and I don't think there's much advantage," Ecclestone said.
Would not be cheap to light the Mt. Fuji course.

Maybe that's what Tony George should do at IMS to get F1 back in the US. :hoping:

Not a bad idea, but IMS isn't really that great of a course for F1. I wouldn't mind building a street circuit here somewhere, or getting a real track up to FIA standards.

Massa takes pole, Hamilton second, Raikkonnen and then Kubica, so Ferrari's doing well so far :)

Actually many tracks on the F1 schedule are crap, IMO. I like street courses but I don't think F1 belongs on that many of them outside on Monaco. The course at Indy suffers from the last series of slow turns before the course reenters the oval. The north end of the course could be stretched out some also. Lack of imagination created a rather uninteresting course.

Just watching the race and it's so hard to see my city. It took a while to get my bearings... I didn't realize they were going counter clockwise.

I agree, with Singapore on there now it wouldn't be a good idea to have another street race. I got excited when I heard rumors a while back about a street course in Vegas because it seemed like a fun idea.

Singapore was a pretty crazy race. Very unfortunate for the Maronello squad...
