Cool Cars We Miss

http://editorial.autos.msn.com/artic...&topart=sports

Freelancer Evan Griffey penned a list of cool cars that are no longer in production, and what he considers the future classics.

High on his list was the Acura NSX, Buick Grand National, Dodge Omni GLH, Mazda RX-7 (FD), Mitsubishi Galant VR-4, Toyota Celica All-Trac (both generations), Toyota Supra, and Volkswagen Corrado VR6

Cool list, but there were a couple of cars he forgot, like the GMC Syclone & Typhoon, The Acura Integra Type R, and the Oldsmobile Achieva SCX (don't laugh, the W41 Quad4 engine they had back in 1991 put out an impressive naturally aspirated 190 hp---five ponies short of the turbocharged Galant VR-4)

Start poring through eBay and auto trader for your future classic. Maybe you'll get lucky and sell it for some quality coin at Barrett-Jackson 20 years from now.

There was a time when I was pouring through autotrader to find an RX-7. Those things are hot.

hah, the GLH. They also had the GLH-S (Goes Like Hell - S'more). My buddy had one. Ugly little spud but damn that thing was a blast to drive.

I had a Ford Escort for 2 years that I punished like a stepchild for ever day of those few years. That ugly little POS managed to outlast cars that are supposed to be 1000 times better like Civics and BMWs, even. It hauled. I had furniture strapped to it's roof. I drove it to Sacramento every weekend (a few hundred miles). Was it cool? Not really, but it was very cool for what it was capable of. It was an overachiever.

They're thinking about bringing it back as a hybrid of some kind. I'll check it out.

I'm doing my part by owning and never selling my '95 Supra.

Halx,
if you want one, my buddy is selling a real nice clean RX-7 but it's sort of a hybrid since it's setup with a LS1 Corvette motor ...as of a couple days ago he was asking $19k. I believe he now has it listed on eeeebaaaaa Nice clean car, he's selling since he has a blue one and a silver one and he's selling this silver one.

don't forget the '84 Supra. That was a sweet ride.

QuasiMondo 12-14-2007 04:06 PM

This has me seriously reconsidering whether I should sell my Galant VR-4 now.
