A Poem I wrote in High school
I walk alone, in this world of repute
For it is not what one thinks of himself But how one looks to others Often disguising ones inner personality and charm So that they may be accepted by others Therefore making it wrong to ask for a pretty, faithful, intelligent and understanding companion, for a truthfully loving and serious relationship. In reality we all want to find our soul mate But with this mask that we all wear to be accepted, we could be blind to that soul mate ever existing. Do we want to be accepted by society, or found by our true love? That is the question we must all ask ourselves. It seems that often in this world asking for both is selfish. Must the maskless be condemned? are they outcasts, destined to be different? Or may it be because we are afraid of differences? It is instilled in this mask that different equals wrong, and unacceptable. But to be associated with the different is worse in itself. Difference shows that one is unique. Why must that be looked upon as bad? Must we conform to the standards that society dictates? We must create our own principles, separate from society, Standards based on what we feel and believe are true and satisfying. Fear not how you appear to others What you shall fear is your appearance to thyself. By P. Silva |
