Cruising in Alaska
In May, my Mom, Sister and I are going on a cruise together through Alaska on Celebrity Cruise lines. This is our first times cruising and going to Alaska, so none of us know what to expect. Any advice on Alaska, things to do, things to see, things to avoid, Celebrity cruises or cruising in general?

Celebrity cruise lines is very nice....Before you head into the gulf they will tell what day you are doing that. I recommend you take dramamaine if you get sea sick, even if you don't, because it can be a little ruff in the gulf.
You will love it. It is really bueatiful. I think it's in Skagway, take the train ride. It's the only stop that has a train ride. You will love it. You should see moose and bear all along the river just look. Have fun.

You don't cruise in the gulf of Alaska it's called the "inside passage" on the southeastern panhandle. Pick up a map and find it for yourself. It always irks me when people screw up facts about my home state.
Get it right. As for things to do, since you've never been before bring lots of film or extra MB chips for your digital camera and a way to dump them somplace when they get full. (becasue they will) Lots of scenery and wildlfe will be in view as the crew of the ship will stop in different places showing you Alakska history and the towns that helped kick off the gold rush. And I don't know where in the lower 48 you're coming from but you might want to bring warm clothes if you're from Arizona, Florida or anyplace where it really doesn't get cold. Even in the summer in Alaska it cools off at night and if you're not used to it you'll claim that you're freezing when its 50 degrees out. Happens every year when the tourists come to town. Other than that, do more research on the web and enjoy you trip in the great land. Last edited by Hardknock; 01-01-2006 at 03:56 PM.. |
