Savannah, Georgia
Going to be in Savannah, GA. the latter part of November. I hear the Pink House is a great place to eat, if you like scallops, which I do. Any other great places to eat, while there? Any sites to make sure to see while there? Is the cemetery worth a visit for photos?
Thanks. |
mrs. wilkes' for lunch on any weekday......a bunch of blue-haired old ladies pass around serious southern chow in big bowls as you sit at big tables with people you don't know.

it's been a while....i lived near savannah about 15 yrs. ago, but it's not far from the historical district.
just thinking about how long it's been.....i'm not so sure any of those lil ole ladies could still be around. let me know if you find it, ok? the charthouse restaurant on river street has good seafood. i'd imagine they have those down by you, too, though. (it's a small chain) |
Just trawl along the riverfront, as there were a number of good seafood restaurants on it. Other than that, I absolutely loved the city...

just went to sav, have some friends that live right off lafayette square
mrs. wilkes for sure...there is a great sushi restaraunt called seasons..it's on the main drag...where the college is..there are a lot of great restaraunts and boutiques, but they are all over the place..just start walking..lol...there is a haunted tour in a convertable hearse that you ahve to take..but u have to book in advance, it fills up...take a trolley ride, and then start at forsyth park, and just start walking...the houses are unreal..and there are so many little hiddens stores and stuff...and bonaventure cemetary is the big one, but it is not in the city...it's about 6 miles east..but there is a small one in the city, that is really haunted and cool |
oh! and i belive mrs. wilkes is on jones st..or the next one over...it's in the lafayette square area, i know that..

It was a nice place, but the town, well remember the Movie "Savannah Smiles"? Should be "Savannah Smells". Human excrement along the river from the homeless, sewage and the smell of boats. The riverfront stank just a bit. Now, places to eat, let me tell you!!! 1. Lady and Her Sons. Go there. There will be a line, but it is so good. I ate the buffett and it was great. Make sure to eat their biscuts. Best I've ever had. 2. Pirate House was okay, but I've had better. 3. Breakfast... eat at the Cobblestone Cafe (in the alley by the Chart House) and also, eat at Huey's by the river. Huey's has an excellent seafood omellete (sic) and great sugar donuts, also. |
I liked the Pirate House for the atmosphere.....I learned a long time ago that places like that rarely have food thats just fantastic...but walking thru all the dining rooms and looking at all the stuff was fun
Shouldnt be a problem to find the shop because I will most definately be in at the HD shop at least twice...once to see what I can find that I dont really need to buy and argue with myself for half an hour and talk my self out of it and then once to go back and get it hahahahaha Im an HD junkie |
