the age old question

ok, so I have this friend, and it really is a friend, shes a girl and thats important here, but anyway, we're both freshmen in college, she came to school with a boy friend from back home, he went to a school up north and she is down in North Carolina, she just broke up with him though, and she did it because she met another guy down here and it convinced her that she needed to break up with the long distance guy. however, shes feeling pretty crap 3 days after the fact and second guessing herself alot, anyone have any advice I can give her as to how she might handle it better or anything at all about the subject? I know you wonderful TFPers do.

it is typical to feel guilt after breaking up with someone, especiall if it was a long distance relationship. Being college students they shouls agree that they need to see others while they are apart, if it was meant to be, they will end up back together at some point

Aachem, I happen to be a college student and I have a girlfriend who lives about an hour and a half away, so its not a true long distance relationship, but I can only see her on the weekends. If your together and meant to be together, then you need to stay together, just because you cannot be with your SO in person is not a reason to end the relationship, especially in the telecommunications age.

Of course this is kind of a person to person thing, some people can deal with a relationship that consists mainly of phone conversations and IMs, and some can't.

That's not even remotely true. Let's not bullshit each other. Everyone knows that when a girl goes on a break it's her final attempt to see if she can get someone better than you, which means that she isn't satisfied with you. Nothing is meant to be.

Just do what any other red-blooded male would do. Nail her.

Just tell her that, in time, it'll all be for the better. They're both about to grow so much as individuals (this is what college is all about) and that can be a very difficult thing to cope with, let alone trying to cope with it over long distances.

It's only been 3 days...she just needs time. If she's still feeling bad about it after a couple of weeks, then I'd worry more. Otherwise just be nice to her and be a friend!
