I can bench 130 now, yay.
 
No great achievement by any measure... but for the past few years every time I would lift, 100 was my one rate max. I've been lifting for 2 months.. and 130 goes... pretty easily now. Its insane. Proof positive of results... finally something to feed on to continue.

Way to go bud! At a rate of 15 pounds a month, well, you'll be breaking 2 bills by fall! Just think about it..

I was soooooooooooooooo happy the first time I put a 45 on each side. Now I can do eight.... still working towards 235, heh...

I once saw a movie clip of this UFC fighter, Tank Abbott, benchpressing 600 pounds. Remember: Even he was once proud to work up to 130 lbs. Keep up the good work, dude!

I remember the first time I finally hit 135, I felt so good. A couple of my friends made fun of me because they could bench 145 easily, but then I pointed out that the first time they benched they were benching 135, so they effectively only gained 10 pounds on their bench..whereas the first time I benched I was becnhing 65, so I effectively gained 70 pounds on my bench...needless to say I've left them in the dust since :p

moral of the story: forget what your friends say, feel good about your progress.

In January I benched 65, and now I'm up to 95. I'll be up to 105 fairly soon, I hope :) 135 is definately a milestone, but personally my goal at the moment is to bench my own weight - 125lbs. Of course, by the time that happens, hopefully I'll weigh more than that and it could be 135+

Benching my weight has always been a goal of mine as well, but as I have gotten stronger, I have gotten heavier. New goal, lose weight to make benching my weight easier.

okay ive been working out steady for like 1.5 months, then work got CRAZY BUSY so i took around 2 months off and work is still busy but in trying to get back into it, and i dont really pay attention to what the weight is at.. honestly proper technique does more for you than more weight, but anyways i think that i start at 75 pounds to warm up and then work my way up to about 170 pounds or so, i weight 160 right now (when i started this 3 months or so ago i weighted just under 150!!!!! i also eat every 3 hours now)

lately ive been doing 'piramids' with my bench press, ex: i start by doing 25 reps with 75 pounds, then i do 20 reps with 85 pounds, then 15 reps with 95 pounds, then 10 reps with 120 pounds, then 10 reps with 130 pounds, then 6 reps with 150 pounds, then 10 reps with 130 pounds, then 10 reps with 120 pounds, then 15 reps with 95 pounds, then 20 reps with 85 pounds, then 25 reps with 75 pounds
sorry thats alot of reading!! but i find that the last 25 reps, or even 20 if i cant make it to 25! are INSANELY hard!!! i have only been doing this for a little while but i find that i get really possitive results with it!

oh and another thing is that i only do each set of mustles once a week, the body takes 1 week to heal properly. so lets say i do chest/tricepts on monday, biceps wensday, back shoulders friday, id do the same things the next week... you also dont want to over train mustles by doing something that uses them as a secondary mustle group... hmm how to explain, okay doing bench press uses chest primary and triceps secondary, since it does this try to do triceps on the same day to totaly fatigue them in 1 day so that they have a whole week to heal

I started lifting weights when I was 16 years old in highschool. I was 6'7", 170 lbs, and could only bench 115. I've lifted weights regularly since then.

I'm now 23 years old. I'm 6'9", 240 lbs and I can bench 350lbs. Alot of the increase is probably due to the physical maturity that comes to men with age but alot of it is just hard work and persistence. I'm working out for NBA teams now and one of the ways they measure your strength is my repping 185 lbs as many times as you can. I can do 185 lbs 26 times most days.

The moral here is to stay in the weight room day after day, month after month, year after year. Make it part of your life. You will become stronger and stronger and really feel good about it.

The biggest benchmarks for me have been 135, 225, and 315. It always feels good to be able to add an extra 45 lb plate to the bar.

It's all about knowing what you're doing. I worked out for years w/o results. Then I hooked up with someone who knew what was up. My first bench was 95lbs 5 sets of 7. In 3 months it was 225lbs 5 sets of 7.

its all about self motivation, you have to feel good about yourself and your accomplishments :)

i started out at 65, im now at 115, even tho my friends can do more i know at the rate im going i can soon laugh at them :)
