Most good sex is pretty exhausting.
Is it wise to do something exhausting right before a sporting event?

I agree with Antagony on that one. If you have sex before it can be pretty exhausting and all you'll wanna do is shower and go to bed afterwards. However, sex after a sporting even is basically the same, ur just gonna be exhausted either way it goes. I wouldn't suggest having sex before a event though but if ur feeling ok afterwards then go for it, just don't fall asleep before ur girl gets off, haha.

Disclaimer : Everyone's body is different, so know your own.
I'm a sprinter, so for competition, everything has to go right or else I notice and lose those valuble tenths or hundredths of a second. If I have anything remotely resembling 'good' sex the night before competition or heavy training, I notice it. That edge just isn't there. Of course, this only really matters for big swim meets, so only once or twice a season does it actually affect me or me little lady... from RichardRambone's comment referring to productivity : I do sleep a lot better after sex, and as a result am far more productive the next day because of it. However, I'm always a touch slower in the water. I don't know the physiology of it, but it likely has something to do with the fact that orgasm tends to dump a lot of endorphines, adrenaline and other good things into your system, and it takes a few days for your body to totally fill up the reserve tanks of those hormones. And when you need every last drop of it for a 50 second race, well, that's why the week leading up to a meet is the longest week of the season... |

Yeah, im still in two minds with this. Its the differance (for me) of being relaxed on the field, or being kinda more aggressive. Usually id say that the aggressive factor dominates, but there is alot to be said for doing things in a relaxed frame of mind. I know Ronaldo says he enjoys some healthy sex prior to a match, and he is still pretty active and aggressive.

I find if I have sex 24 hours before a big game I lose my killer instinct. I dont have the nunger to push through the pain barrier and not anywhere near as competitive. I need these attributes in order to play some of my sports like soccer or running. In contrast I find sex before hand relaxes me and allows my muscles to losen up and flow more freely. As a result sex before sport is bennificial in my thai boxing or cricket. so it depends on the demands of the sport really. Im actually considering doing my thesis on this topic for my honours year next year. Ill be sure to let everyone know what I find out.

I would actually have volunteered. I have much the same experience as lunchbox7. My solution: have less intense sex before a game ( i play soccer). It helps with tension-relief and aids my flexibility. Great sex takes away my competitive edge and lowers my pain threshold as well. But a light round in the sack on match-morning actually increases my hunger and increases the killer instinct. I think its just a hormonal thing.

sometimes after I have sex I feel energized and ready to take on anything, other times I feel tired and worn out. I dont think it would be worth it to take the chance of being worn out before a sporting event especially if it is an important match.
