You Need Surgery: Tomorrow (grizzly internal organ shots added)
So last week I had some headaches, neck and back pain. I chalked it up to stress and kept on going. Monday of this week, I developed a pretty nasty stomach ache. It persisted through the night and into the next day. Gas Ex and Pepto didn't seem to do anything. I was at work for only an hour and a half before I decided it was too bad to stay.
Well, I NEVER come home from work when I'm sick, so Mrs. Coaster insisted I go to the doctor. After about 7 hours of poking, prodding, tests, urine samples and even a CT scan, they determined I had a badly twisted omentum. I would need surgery the following morning to remove the twisted/dead tissue inside me. Yowsa! So that happened, and it all went OK. I was only in the hospital for a day and a half, and I'm back at home now recovering. Hooray for strong pain meds. Who wants to see my scars? (and if you want to see the pix of the offending internal organ, I have those too) Added these pictures, at the end of the topic, proceed at your own strong-willed risk. |
So if I understand your surgery right, your signature doesn't really fit your current situation, at least for a few more days. :)
Seriously, glad to hear that you're ok and came through with shining colors. |
I for one would like to see the offending internal organ.

*hugs*
Hope you are quickly on the mend. Totally interested in the pics! |
This thread is worthless without pics.

Give the man time! He is no doubt enjoying his pain med high. We should all be so lucky to have pain meds. :)

I agree with all of them. Pictures?

The suspense is killing me. Now I've got to go google omentum.
|
What is an Omentum and what does it do?

Yeah, that was the same article I read as soon as I learned what was wrong with me.
So... since there was so much interest in the grizzly internal organ shots... here they are. The one on the left is the omentum, all twisted up, you can see that it looks almost like a towel that you have wrung to squeeze water out of it. Its supposed to lay flat. The second pic is the same thing after being untwisted. The entire section of twisted material as well as anything beyond that point was then removed through a 2" slice that went vertically up from my navel. The other openings were smaller, just large enough to get a scope or small instrument into. http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/7...umsmalltm8.jpg Beat that, exhibitionist board! |
Take those yourself? Heh, heh!
