Dry Lips

Hi guys, just wondering if you have any ways of keeping your lips moist.

I'm not talking about lip balm though (i already know about that). My lips are always rather dry and it's not very great looking, and moist lips are much nicer to kiss than dry ones.

I'm thinking that there should be some natural way to keep them moist? Afterall I assume the dry parts are just skin, and skin can be kept moist.

It's kind of frustrating since the rest of my face's skin is nice (or so i've been told).

Well, I don't know of any other way than lip balm. And if you're going to use lip balm it's gotta be Carmex. It is cheap and it is the best. It comes in a little pot w/ a yellow rather clinical looking lid and you can pick it up just about anywhere.

Also, don't lick your lips when they are chapped. It will only make them worse.

A good lip balm is the best way to go unfortunately. The skin on your lips doesn't secrete sebum - the stuff that keeps the rest of your skin moist - so your lips can't look after themselves.

Amen, sister.

Yep and yep.....gotta use the lip balm. I have it beside my bed (and everywhere else) gotta put some on for the long nights sleep....when you might mouth breath, and dry them out a little more. Dry cracked lips hurt!

I find to get rid of the dry skin, exfoliating with my toothbrush once a week or so helps. Just wet your toothbrush and rub gently over your lips, then rinse the brush out really well.

And as far as lip balm goes, it doesn't get any better than Burt's Bees beeswax lip balm. I liked it before it was cool. :) Seriously tho, that's what I use, and I've NEVER had chapped lips since. I currently have four tubes and am considering getting a fifth.

And since it's minty, it's totally manly! No, seriously. I used to walk around with it in high school (amongst other assorted Chapsticks) and it was the only thing my guy friends would use. Personally, I prefer the tin, because then I can smear some on my dried-out winter cuticles too :)

For girls, I highly recommend the Burts Bees lip shimmers. Just about the best thing ever. I have them in every shade. Not quite sure how that happened...it just did.

I use burts bees. I put it on before I go to bed at night and it works fantastic. I can always tell when I forgot, my lips tend to stay dry

I like a little bit of the aloe vera vaseline, just a teeny tiny bit to cover the lips so you don't get greasy from it.

Chapsticks and others suck IMO, they don't provide any moisture.

Other than that you could probably find a good (but expensive) moisturiser in a beauty department of a department store.

The only natural way I've ever thought kind of worked (although I wouldn't put this down as a scientific experiment), was eating lots of raw vegetables. Of course I'm not talking about the inevitable water that gets on your lips after eating carrots, lettuce or whatever, but my lips always feel naturally moisturized after eating a bunch.

I'm no nutritionist, but I'm guessing raw veg is the best food group for skin maintenance.

Try taking a Vitamin A supplement.

Water. Drink a LOT of water every day. at least 64 oz, more when its very hot or windy, wind and heat dry your skin out. Avoid salty foods. Lip balm is a good thing for dry lips. I can't tell if your a guy or a gal, so I'm not sure if lip gloss is a good suggestion or not.
