How to fold a shirt in 3 seconds

Okay, probably not something you've been dying to know how to do. But still pretty cool.

itch vaccine 11-17-2004 01:09 AM

omg that's awesome,

wait lemme go try it..

you mean now I can fold my own clothes?

Silvy 11-17-2004 01:36 AM

Hot damn!
that works too!

Just tried it with a shirt of mine, and while not exactly perfect (prolly takes a little practice), it did come close enough to use it :)

runtuff 11-17-2004 04:03 AM

I'm mesmorized (sp) and it works!!

Shirtninja 11-17-2004 09:37 AM

Thats pretty cool, thanks for the link.

Tidus 11-20-2004 10:27 PM

nice...easier for me..hehe

LeviticusMky 11-21-2004 01:50 AM

heh, I saw this awhile back, I have a ton of t-shirts, I was ecstatic...

I fold all my shirts like this now. It's so fast, and easy, plus if you get really fast at it it's a great excuse to take your shirt off at parties and the like. Too bad I blind people with my pale white skin...

guthmund 11-21-2004 09:52 PM

Finally, I can get that job at The Gap I've always dreamed of.....:D

No, seriously, that was pretty neat.

*goes off to fold his laundry with new found glee

DJMala 11-21-2004 10:05 PM

I think there's something physically wrong with me. I've been shown a dozen techniques and I still can't fold a shirt worth a damn. :|

yellowchef 11-21-2004 10:18 PM

I hate folding shirts. I suck at it. Even this one probably. I just did laundry tonight so Ill have to try it in a couple days

Gustoferson 11-22-2004 08:39 AM

Wow, my stubborn self didn't want to believe this would work at all or that it would only work with tons and tons of practice. However, I finally got around to laying a t-shirt out on my bed, and bam, the damn thing worked instantly. Not perfect, mind you, but easily more than passable and better than the way I used to fold the occasional shirt (usually all of my shirts are hung up). Still trying to figure out a way to compensate for long sleeve shirts, but i think a little common sense and it'll work for those too.

This is the sort of practical, every day advice that kicks ass because its so simple yet makes peoples lives easier in the small ways.

Now if you'll excuse me I think I'll go do this over and over again until I beat the fun out of it!

Cadwiz 11-23-2004 04:41 PM

That was totally bad-ass. I have got to try that.

jfelco 11-23-2004 10:32 PM

thats tight....

Ruse 11-24-2004 06:54 AM

Thats awesome lol

Zeraph 11-26-2004 12:41 PM

That's great, I had my hands switched when I first tried it, but once i figured that out I could do it no prob.

klo 11-26-2004 05:33 PM

Woah thats awesome.

Yeah, I definately had my hands switched up at first as well. Took me a few seconds of being perplexed until i smacked myself on my head, switched hands, and then shazaam! victory!

Willravel 11-26-2004 09:50 PM

That is more ingenius than Einstein, Hawkings, Plato, and Aristotal combined. I used to just fold my shirts in quarters. I feel like I've evolved from primordial single celled organism to pure energy. This must be what Buddha meant when he was talking about nirvana. 1000 thanks, sadatx.

zdman135 11-29-2004 02:24 AM

I am very happy for this post... Now I can fold my clothes a lot faster... It usually takes me 2.5 hrs to do laundry, and the slowest part is folding...

quadro2000 11-29-2004 06:46 AM

After a while, I finally got this similar to the video. I'm sure that I'll get better with practice. This is really cool...just don't tell my wife I learned how to fold my own shirts, please. :)

scott_p_1 11-29-2004 05:20 PM

I saw this a few months ago, but I can finally do it now! It's a pretty neat little trick

troit 11-29-2004 05:34 PM

Now that is pretty cool...Would probably be pretty helpful for all those who work in retail. ;)

fckm 11-29-2004 05:55 PM

holy crap. That's the best thing EVAR!

FngKestrel 11-29-2004 06:19 PM

Cool to know, but I don't fold my clothes. I have my clean pile, my dirty pile, and my dirty pile that looks clean pile. :D

shakran 11-29-2004 06:30 PM

Excellent. I'm gonna have a folding contest with the wife this weekend :D

dman2 11-30-2004 01:28 PM

What a great post!! I have to admit, it was more than expected from the title of the thread. Any quick way of actually getting the laundry off the floor and into the washer?

superiorrain 11-30-2004 01:43 PM

this now my prefered method of folding that and stuffing them into the cupboard.

stonegrody 11-30-2004 01:47 PM

I started watching this and tried to memorize it so I could do it at home...then I realized I hang all my shirts. D'Oh!

keyshawn 11-30-2004 02:27 PM

wow - thanks !

Anyone else have good techniques in domestic engineering [every day things like this] to help everyone out ?

dman2 12-01-2004 05:49 AM

I was watching this yesterday on repeat trying to memorize it also but once I got home, I couldn't make it work. Does it work better for certain shirts? I tried using a t-shirt. Maybe I am just not coordinated enough to do it.

FL8ME 12-13-2004 08:39 AM

It looks like it definitely works better on lighter articles of clothing. I still have yet to get the damn trick to work. By the way, I just love the flute that comes in when she does it. It really emphasizes the whole "ancient Japanese secret" of the whole thing.

shadowalker 12-13-2004 06:48 PM

I just refolded all my t-shirts, this is great, thanks for the find

shakran 12-13-2004 07:00 PM

It works for longsleeves as well. Do the regular fold, then you just hold the shirt high and fold the one sleeve a couple of times by lowering the shirt to the ground. Works great.

saut 12-13-2004 08:31 PM

I've mastered this technique -- anything else out there that's a bit fancier? I'd like to fold my shirts into swans, perhaps.

derektor 12-14-2004 06:59 AM

Just in time for me. I've cut my laundry folding time in half. Still don't know how this works, but I'll have extra time to think about it. Being that there is all this time I've alotted for laundry that is free now.

Winning that contest could set up a precendent that will not be in your favor. I can see it now: "Honey, you're so good at that...you'll be in charge of all the folding from now on..."

Ouch.

Oreon 01-01-2005 05:27 PM

Wow! I love it!
You gotta love the Japanese and their traditions.
So...what's the best way to fold pants?

cheeterbo 01-02-2005 10:19 AM

that was awesome, thank you

the420star 01-08-2005 03:52 PM

this is amazing... best post ever...EVER

discotequi 01-11-2005 11:38 AM

ok, I've watched the video like 5 times and I'm still not sure I understand how she turns her hand around
