Shrinking t-shirts

I have some t-shirts lying around that are a size too big and i was wondering if there was a particular way i could wash/dry them or do something so that it'll only shrink that one size. Thanks for any help.

depending on the type of fabric... but usually washing it in hot water, then drying on the highest setting will cause shrinkage.

it's tough. All of my shirts that have (accidentally) been tossed in the dryer and shrunk only shrunk lengthwise. I am not sure of the proper method to shrink evenly.

100% Cotton will shrink easily in hot water and a hot dryer, unless it has already been pre-shrunked. You can tell if it's pre-shrunk right on the tag. ;)
