Drive to canada, buy cuban cigars, drive back.

yournamehere 06-16-2003 08:14 PM

Same as above - only substitute "Mexico" for "Canada"

MacGnG 06-16-2003 08:40 PM

Some companys sell cuban cigars through teh mail..... they come in a plain box without teh fancy wappers......... except they are true cubans, that is the only way true cuban cigars can enter teh United States.........unless they are smuggled in, and those are rare and expensive.

Slims 06-19-2003 09:08 PM

If you don't declare them, you will probably get through. If you get caught anyway, they usually just tear them up in front of you.

I was bringing some back with my brother when he @#$%$ choked and told customs that we had some after I had just finished telling them we didn't. They just took them away and destroyed them.

splck 06-20-2003 07:52 AM

the store down the road sells em'.
If you want to bring them back across the border you could take the label off, but that's still smuggling.

shadrock 06-25-2003 04:42 PM

Does anyone really think cubans are really that good? The ones I have had were just too harsh for my liking. I think there is way too much hype just because you can't get them in the US.

no they aren't good.

http://www.acidcigars.com are the ones for me

Conclamo Ludus 06-26-2003 08:27 AM

I find a lot of the Dominican cigars to be just as good. Its mostly a personal preference though. A lot of the reputation seems to be novelty. They definitely aren't bad though!

asaris 06-26-2003 10:49 AM

All of the Cuban cigars I've had have always been the best cigars that I've had. It might be that I've just gotten lucky. It might also be that those 'cuban' cigars that you buy just across the border aren't really cuban, but merely cuban seed. I'm always very hesitant about buying cuban cigars in Canada or Mexico, because there are a lot of places that will sell cuban seed cigars and claim that they're cuban cigars.

mrquackers 06-26-2003 05:02 PM

Canada's definitely the way to go for me. Proved real handy when my best friend had a baby. :)

mtsgsd 06-27-2003 07:01 AM

I read somewhere that places like jamaica have caught up to cuba in terms of quality a long time ago. Supposedly the cuban tobacco ain't what it used to be anyhow.

In any case I like my Royal Jamaicans just fine. :)

You can get cubans in Jamaica, or if you really want you can catch a boat over to cuba for a day. If you go to Negril Jamaica, check out Adducci cigars in the west end for some good Jamaican cigars.

By the way, saw an ad in playboy for a "free" Avo cigar. ($2.00 for "promotional fee") Anyway, thought some of you might be interested. www.avocigars.com

i`ve had spanish , cuban ,dominican , by only a hair , i prefer the cuban, only in canada eh?never left the country to try them, gotta like it

WispOfDespair 07-07-2003 08:53 AM

A friend of mine used to mail the cigar and the labels separately back home. Not sure of the specifics.

emopwr 07-09-2003 08:33 PM

Acid Cigars? I dunno if that sounds really good, or really bad hehe.

click_me_now 07-14-2003 03:50 PM

Cubans are great because you are not supposed to have them. Once you get past that, Dominican ones are better.

07-15-2003 09:42 AM

I much prefer the Dominican's myself. The cuban desire is more of a novelty now more than anything.

A lot of the "Dominican" cigars are actually Cuban cigars that have been rebranded.

thingstodo 07-18-2003 02:59 AM

I've purchased lousy cuban's in tourist spots, like the shops in Nassau. They were harsh and not maintained in a good humidor. I've also had fantastic cubans - Partagas and Romeo & Juliet - in Sau Paulo, Brazil and from small shops in downtown (not the tourist DT) Cancun.

Guess it all comes down to personal preference. A wonderful non-Cuban from Cuban seed is the Cayman Premium.... but you can only get them there as best I can tell.

Buzz 07-23-2003 08:51 AM

I think cuban cigars are over rated... A site I use is netcigar.com but to each his own.

sadistikdreams 07-23-2003 09:40 PM

keister them

crazycousinjim 07-25-2003 02:16 PM

I can send them to you from Denamrk, they are legal here. Being an expat here has it's priveleges. The worst that could happen is the post gets them. PM me.

Clacker 08-03-2003 01:56 PM

As someone that has smoked both, I find that the Cuban ones are over rated and cost way to much. A good cigar and crown or scotch at a beachside pool is all I need.

the420star 08-03-2003 08:14 PM

my experiance is the same as everyones, buy in canada, bring to US. And as for how they are... what i have gathered if you go and just buy any cuben, by that i mean the cheap ones they are junk, you really need to go all out and drop the money on the more expensive ones. also keep in mind, if you have cheaper ones and they taste like crap, some time in a humador, could help the flavor a lot.

FastShark85 08-04-2003 06:15 PM

Be careful at the US/Canada border. The US Customs folk are a bit edgy from time to time since 9/11.

If you're going to visit Canada, try smoking a Cuban stogie while you're there. You'll probably end up agreeing that they're overrated.

weedline 08-06-2003 05:43 PM

I have found that Cubans have a hard draw. They my head head hurt.

cowlick 08-13-2003 04:46 AM

As far as getting stuff over the Canadian border is concerned, anything you carry in small quantities in a passenger vehicle is unlikely to be found. It's best to use some solid judgement in exactly what you bring over though.
A handful of Cuban cigars - okay. If customs find them, claim you forgot to declare them.
A handful of British Columbia weed - just try and talk your way out.

You're right, everyone wants Cubans because their supposedly "the best". The problem is that there is such a demand for them that the manufacturers don't age the tobacco, thus the harshness.

Now if you buy some Cubans and stick them in a good humidor for 5-7 years, you'll have a great cigar. But in the meantime I find Dominicans just as nice.

ccvirginia 08-17-2003 09:36 AM

If you want to bring back cubans from Canada make sure you REMOVE the labels. Without the labels customs can't prove they are cubans.

If the labels are important to you...simply mail them to yourself.

briana 08-23-2003 02:35 AM

if you are a real cigar smoker get known at the local smoke shop or true tobacco shop in your area....once that happens you might be surprised what the owners inventory consists of.

cradeg 08-28-2003 03:57 AM
