A game to play...
Ok, so as some of you know from IRC (where i hang out the most) I've been looking for a game to play FOREVER...
Zxello's Challenge of the Day: Suggest cool games for zxello to play. I like all kinds of games, cartoony fun stuff is the best. I'm a hardcore RPGer, and I have all consoles, MMO is mah fav, but I need something that will hold my attention, dont suggest WoW, EQ, EQ2 because ive played all those. HAVE FUN! |
SNOOD!!!
It's the heroin of computer games.... |
Skies of Arcadia: Legends for the GameCube. Final Fantasy style RPG with AIR PIRATES. If that's not enough for you, it's one of the most fun RPGs I've ever played. It's generally pretty easy with a few notable exceptions, but a very fun game all around. I highly recommend it. Oh, and it's cartoony. :p
If you've never played Neverwinter Nights, that's high on my list, too. They recently released the Platinum version which includes both the Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark expansions. It's a D&D style RPG (it even shows your hit rolls) in a medieval setting. Very compelling game with lots of replayability - you can develop your character nearly any way you want. I think this was only for PC, though I could be wrong. Another of my favorites... Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Developed by the same guys who did NWN, it's also a D&D style RPG, except this time it's set in (obviously) the Star Wars universe. Even if you don't particularly like Star Wars, you should enjoy this game if you like RPGs at all. If you do like Star Wars and you haven't played this game, feel free to hang yourself right now (or at the very least play it as fast as you possibly can). The sequel was, in my opinion, superior as far as gameplay goes (lots of little tweaks made it much more enjoyable to play), but inferior in terms of story and character development. They're both excellent games, though. I believe they were both released for X-Box and PC. Those are all single player RPGs, but they all have compelling stories that should keep you hooked for a while. The only one of those that I haven't played through multiple times is Skies of Arcadia, and I actually might do that again soon. That's how good they are. Any of the Final Fantasy games you can get your hands on should fit the bill nicely. They're fun to play, pretty hard in parts, and insanely long. Any one should hold you attention pretty well, though my favorite is FF6. You might be able to find an emulator and ROM, though don't quote me on that :p Morrowind. A lot of people have issues with the graphics and controls of this game (and with good reason... the character skins are fugly, and the controls kinda suck), but if you can get past that it's a pretty amazing game. A first person RPG that's so large and diverse it nearly feels like an MMO. Many, many sidequests to do, lots of character customization. You can't do everything in the game in one play, so it has some good replayability. And it might get you hooked on the series and psyched for the upcoming ELDER SCROLLS IV: OBLIVION, BABY! (Sorry about that. I'm just so fucking excited for this game. It looks absolutely amazing.) You can get Morrowind for X-Box or PC. If you haven't yet played it, get Zelda: Wind Waker. It's not quite an RPG, but sort of an action puzzle RPG hybrid. Lots of people complained that it looked "kiddy," but I think the graphics are simply genius. They are colorful, clean, crisp (whoa... check that alliteration :p), and executed very well. The gameplay follows the typical post-Ocarina Zelda style, which is just fine by me. The puzzles are mostly pretty easy, but all around it's an excellent game. It's in a close second for my favorite Zelda game (right behind Ocarina). This is, obviously, only for Gamecube. Phew. I think I've exhausted my recommendation muscle for a little while. I hope you find something you haven't played yet! |
Snood...haha...
Personally, I got stuck on Word Up.............Had a game that ran for two weeks until we had a power surge at work....crap... |
DotA. What better way to spend an hour than to be called "a noob, fag, gay, queer, feeder, faggot, asshole" etc and find out that apparently, your teammates/opponents have ALL fucked your mom!
But if you happen to play with either your friends, or people that aren't 12 years old, it's a pretty fun map for Warcraft 3. |

I have spent countless hours on miniclip.com and Motherload is my latest craze. |
I second Mooseman's recommendations. Skies of Arcadia is one of the best damned games ever. The whole premise of the game (air pirates) is the coolest fucking thing ever. I want an air pirate MMORPG now!! KOTOR is one of the best as well (surprise!).

Well if your into action I would suggest Devil May Cry 3 for PS2 and Ninja Gaiden Black for Xbox. Ace Combat 5 for PS2 is also a greatt airplane game.
|
If you like cartoony action- The Ratchet and Clank games should be called Ratchet & Crack! One of my personal favorites.
Oh- looks like I'm off to by Skies of Arcadia!l |
Check out The Misadvntures of Tron Bonne. It's a cartoony action/puzzle for the PS1. It's fun and insanely funny because you've got cute little Servbots working for you doing evil things like stealing hubcaps and looting homes.

Those little guys look like the offspring between mega man and a lego man.
And on that note, Mega Man 2 is the best video game ever made... I'm not sure what the best regular game ever made is, but it probably involves drinking. |

Cartoony action game with a good plot? Psychonauts! It's a great cartoony platformer where you travel inside people's minds at a summer camp where psychic kids brain's are being stolen. Very very cool.

just tried out progressquest
as far as i understood...its the crappiest piece of software made since winME run the exe and go away...game rums in the background without u knowing anything i reccommend u try out neverwinter nights final fantasy 7 deus ex morrowind nethack |
ProgressQuest is a brilliant game just for the sheer simplicity involved, anyone who has played any type of an rpg or mmorpg needs to seriously give it a look.
As someone stated above yes, all you do is run the exe and do nothing else to it, but that is the whole point. It was made as a spoof/satire to all the mad clicking/running/typinf involved with the rpg/mmorpg genre, just take it with a grain of salt, let it run a day or two and just look at it then delete it. |
My god. I didn't know ProgressQuest still existed.
Sweet...you can still kill cubscouts! |
Ski Stunt Simulator. Loads of addictive fun.

Final Fantasy Tactics and/or Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.
You'll stay up all night every day playing these. |
Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls was/were enjoyable if you're into dungeon crawling on the go. And Final Fantasy 4, 5, and 6 will be on their way to the GBA over the next year. Also, a Final Fantasy is in the works for the DS. Final Fantasy Final Fantasy Final Fantasy. Ack!
Do you like strategy RPG's? You might want to give Advance Wars a try. GBA or DS Also, the DS seems to be getting alot of the old PC-style Adventure RPG's. Trace Memory and Phoenix Wright look pretty cool. Same sort of games as Monkey Island or the later Police Quests. Point/click RPG |
Of all games, I've beening replaying Diablo 2:LofD. The 1.1o patch adds synergy bonuses from skills to other skills. It's great knowing the your 5 points in Firebolt didn't go to waste once your using Fireball!
|
If you can't pick a new game, try playing one of your old ones. It'll save you some cash too.
|
I've said this a million times before on TFP, and I'll say it again: you can pick up Fallout and Fallout 2 in a combo pack for only ~$10. Extremely good RPGs. PcGamer ranked Fallout as the 4th best game of all time. Go get it, now!
