tryin' to remember the name of this 80's game system
It was a weird one advertised sometime between 85 and 87. You had a light gun that was shaped like a space ship and you'd shoot ships on the TV screen with it. My confused memory seems to recall that they'd broadcast a TV show and you'd shoot at stuff on the screen. This may have been a regional (east coast) test market thing.
Anyone have any clue what I'm talking about here? |
My friend had this. We're in California, so it is not only an east coast thing. I cannot remember the name either. Thanks, now I'll be thinking about this for days...

Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future! I had the good guy's ship/light gun and the guy that flew, Major Matthew "Hawk" Masterson.
God bless Google. :D Ah, a flight down memory lane: http://www.captainpower.com/ |
Hah! I remember Captain Power!! I had the good guy gun as well. I also had a few of the action figures. Captain power and his recharge station, and I think the flying evil metal guy. Oh the good old days...
On a side note about a year or two ago at around 3am I caught one of these old episodes on the Space network. Was that ever some horrid acting. Good thing I was too young to notice when it was new... |
I never had any toys or videogames based on Captain Power, but I remember having just about all their tapes. My mom used to work for this videotape company called "MEDIA", which did tapes for Nightmare on Elm St, stuff like that. I think Captain Power was one of 'em. We got copies of all the movies my mom helped edit.

I had this stuff, it was pretty badass :p

Does this have anything to do with a cartoon with a kid in a lettermans jacket with a zapper gun, megaman, and a giant talking gameboy?
Edit: Oh, snap! Wrong show I'm thinking of. I think I remember Captain Power now... was it live action? |
you're thinking of Captain N: The Game Master.
That show was by far more badass then Captain Power, as far as I can remember at least. :P |
Hah! Loved Captain Power (the guy who played Tank - in the camo battle suit - played LaFours in Kevin Smith's Mallrats), loved Captain N, but none of these shows held a candle to Kidd Video!
"Run, run, you better run run! Open your eyes your heart is the key!" God, I'm getting old... |
I guy I knew in High School was in Captain Power he played Scout.
