Xbox VS PC - leet / lame
So my firends just modded their xbox with the latest and greatest mod chip and now theyre saying xbox is better than pc. I say no way! Heres a list of their points: (leaving out the similarities)
Xbox Pro: Cheap reliable("doesnt crash like XP") portable Con: way less games non upgradeable (ya, HD and such but nothing compared to a PC) PC: Pro: way more powerful sky is the limit for expansion way more features(Chat, Games, Internet, Movie, Server....) Con: expensive!!! Anyway what do you think? Is xbox compared to PC leet of lame. 0hh ya, what would be the worst game system ever made? MACBOX |
I think there should be an option somewhere in between. I have a high end system and an x-box and I love them both
|
PC will always be better than console, imo.
|
A PC may cost more, but you can do a whole lot more on it, which more than makes up for the price. Also, a lot of X-box games are released on PC too. In addition, you can get an X-box like controller for your PC. No one can ever go wrong with a PC...
|
the features of a PC far outweigh any pros of a gaming system.
|
PC will always outweigh any console. No if ands or buts. Yes that includes the Phantom....
|
I like my XBOX because yes it never crashs(well not all the time) and you can take it anywhere.
But I like my Comp also because I can post on these forums and well Comps most of the time have better grachics because you can adjust everything yourself, to get the game looking just right so in the long run I woulf take a computer over my XBOX but I do like having 2. P.S. on a side note the gamecube is junk! |
PC all the way...
As for the Expensive con. You can get a respectable gaming system that can easily compete with the X-Box for not much more than the cost of one, so I would rule that out of the picture. |
The PC is more powerful, but a modded xbox allows you to watch video files on a tv rather than a monitor and it's a lot more fun to play emulators on xbox with a controller rather than a keyboard on a PC. If you load linux on a xbox, you can do many of the same things as a computer.

2. There are in almost infinite number of controllers availble for the PC, most of which IMHO are far better than an Xbox Controller. Putting Linux on an Xbox however does interest me, if only for the fun factor. It does however screw your live capabilities (If im wrong please tell me, I'd like to know). |

The XBOX is in a totally different realm than the PC!
An XBox is a console gaming system, which means that it is meant for gaming parties, quick 30 minute sessions, and lots of carnage on a big screen. A PC is a multipurpose home computing machine of which games are a tiny aspect of. PCs are unbeleivably more powerful than an XBOX, simply because of it's openness, the vast array of things that you can accomplish with it: Art, Information, Bill paying, Simulation, etc. BUT... How many times havve you had someone over to play a two player game on your PC? The XBOX and any other console for that matter is an entirely different social experiment, something that (for me) is a pastime for two or more people in close physical proximity. LAN parties are fun, but they take a lot of planning and a lot of space. My PC and XBOX live in harmony less than ten feet from each other, I love them both equally, like your Mom used to tell you and your sister/brother/ferret. |
Xbox with modchip, RAM, and HD upgrades installed running linux or another UI > PC.

That was a corny joke, but albeit funny because it's true. |
My vote is "Depends" as both have their place. Online games that are twitch-based (like Halo, Quake, Tribes, etc.) are better on Xbox for sure because they require all people to play using the same hardware specs. A better video card (an dhench higher frame rate) or different driver versions don't give one person or another an advantage.
MMOs and RPG tend to be better on the PC, as you have more power, better grpahics and more options for controlls (KB/Mouse, and the like). Sports games always feel better to me on a console. Sure, you can use a gamepad on your PC (I use my S-Controller on my PC), but somehow consoles just capture sports better. So, as I stated, it depends on the game as much as the person I think. |
One is a computer and the other is a videogame playing machine. Ya can't compare the two. Both have huge advantages and disadvantages over the other. Saying one is simply better than the other is a joke.
There should be a "I like both" option. -Lasereth |
Shit dude, I like both, and leet isn't a word.
|
untill they can figure out a way to have a system like be attached into a computer theres no comp PC owns

I'll not vote on this issue, because each have advantages and disadvantages. This is the same kind of crap as "what console is best?" As has been established by post #1, both have advantages and disadvantages. There is no real "best". Personally, I fell that there are games that just play better on the overall on Xbox. Games like Halo, most racing games, Madden, etc., primarily due to the gameplay/control value that comes from using a handheld controller versus a mouse/keyboard. The same thing goes for games like BF, CS, Far Cry, Doom3, Warcraft III. It just doesn't work that well on Xbox. I know it seems like I'm waffling on the issue, but there are just some games that, when ported from one system to the other, just don't translate very well. Like Halo. When Halo got put on PC, it felt exactly like every other PC FPS I had ever played. There's just a distinctly different experience from playing games on Xbox vs. playing games on PC. I just can't justify classifying one as being "better" or more "l33t" than the other.
