xbox live ?
Hi there
I bought an xbox and have been playing halo non stop! I think it a great game! I would like to know more about xbox live?.... if I get hi-speed internet what do I get with xbox live? Is it any good? How does it work? |
Xbox Live! is a good service, though I can't use it myself (college networks suck!) However, Xbox Live! only functions for games that are designed for Xbox Live! The original Halo isn't one of them. You'd have to search for games that specifically say they work in conjunction with Xbox Live! in order to play those games through the service. Yes, Xbox Live! is a service, it's a monthly pay-for-play service. You pay MS something like $9.95/month, they let you use Xbox Live! service. However, Xbox Live! only works with high-speed internet, and a cable-based service is probably gonna be your best bet in most situations.
What you get from Xbox Live! varies from game to game. I mean that in all seriousness. Some games that are Xbox Live! enabled give you no more than an online score tracking system. Some games offer multiplayer through Live, some offer way more. Games such as Ninja Gaiden offer Hurricane Pack, a free download for owners of that game that makes the game faster. But overall, Xbox Live! is a good service if your setup is capable (speed-wise) and you're willing to pay out the cash for it every month, and you buy games that are Xbox Live! capable. |
Actually, for Xbox Live you pay for the year of service in advance. It's like $60 for 12 months, so roughly $5-6 dollars per month.
You will need a credit card to activate the service also. I think it's definitely worth it if you buy the right games. Pandora Tomorrow, Halo 2, sports games, etc. |
I enjoy live. There are some choads on there but it adds a whole new dimention to the games. It's like having a LAN party without inviting others to your house.

If you don't wanna pay for it, there's some way to route your xbox through your pc and get xbox live for free. The catch is that you can only connect to people who are doing the same thing. I don't know much about it since I don't have an xbox... but google should turn up something.

It's 50$ USD a year, and I love it. You can play Halo online through XboxConnect, but you can't use the microphone.

oooh i love me some xbox live. especially FPS or Madden05.
what is everyone's gamertag? (mine: CROSSOVA COM) |
It's a great service and you can find deals all the time and if you don't have a credit card you can buy prepaid cards at most stores. If you don't like the public rooms you can get involved with lots of groups that only play private games. They aren't clans so you don't need to worry about that. Example are www.mxgamers.net www.xblgames.com www.adultgamingenthusiasts.com These are groups that require you to NOT SING IN THE MIC! or act like a 12 year old. Great groups and makes xbox live the best it can be.

My gamertag is epsilonomega. I haven't played much XBL lately. I'm waiting for Star Wars: Battlefront later this month.

My XBox Live gamertag is Jimplication.
It would be neat to have a sticky thread where everyone could post their XBox Live names and what games they are currently playing.. I'm currently playing Burnout 3 online. I also have Madden and ESPN NHL 2k5, but haven't really gotten into them much. Burnout 3 is just so good, and so fun online. I love it. I also highly recommend XBox Live. It's easily worth the money; games are smooth, there is very little, to no, lag, and there are great features, lately the ability to "merge" the offline and online experiences in games. Very well done all around. I highly recommend it if you have a XBox and high-speed Internet. Take care. |
