Indeed, I'm not gonna buy a DS as soon as it comes out, gonna wait and see if it's worth it's price which at the moment most definately seems to be.
Besides at the time of it's release BIG GAMES are being released on the current gen consoles. Sure am giddy to play Sonic, Final Fantasy and Metroid on the DS though. |
eeee sonic DS, final fantasy, sims in the city, bomberman DS, mariokartDS
i am so going to run out of money |

i'm gonna break the bank.. |
Well, that settles it. After watching all the 10 minute + long video presentations on the Release titles for the DS I'm sold. I'll be picking my DS up on the 28th (because that's when I'll receive it once it's shipped from the US) along with Super Mario 64, Need for Speed Underground DS and Feel the Magic XY XX!
|
was thinking about getting a small gaming device. Won't ever go with sony crap but this looks like a nice alternative.
|
I'm totally getting one. Two actually.
Just for the record, Super Mario 64 DS is NOT JUST A PORT. It has a similar storyline, and the same levels, but it also an extra 30 stars to earn. New power-ups, and choice of characters. I'm very excited about it. |
I've never bought a handheld the first year it's come out, and even though it looks promising, I think I'll wait for the PSP and the DS to get the bugs out of their 1.0 versions before picking up one of the systems.
Unless of course I see a game that I can't live without. |
2 weeks.
Cannot wait. |

On that note, i cant wait for the DS, i wish it had more than 6 games for launh, only one looks kinda good, and thats mario 4x64. Everything else looks llike nothing special, ill prolly get one after the holidays. |
|
it comes on the 21st right? hmmm i think i'll wait for the pSp

You should read first "Up to 12 titles will ship for Nintendo's DS in the 30 days after the console ships in the US on 21 November, with the total rising to between 20 and 25 by the end of March 2005, the company said yesterday." I said Launch titles, I work at gamestop, and we have 6 titles for launch, not a month after launch. They have at least 6, the best game they have, Metroid Hunters, wont be availible till 05. |
This holiday season is a wallet killer. I'm not getting a DS just yet, though. PSP might be my first choice.
|
Ickuber, since you work at Gamestop, do you know if "Nintendogs" is going to be an Asia only release, or will it come out to the states?
|
where is this video that sold you deflock?
|
I was pissed at first because there is no analog stick. But I just watched a video at IGN of someone playing Metroid Prime: Hunters - First Hunt using the touch screen as an analog stick with the thumb strap, and it looks like it works awesome.

ill look it up, but i dont know man. Also, i played the ds....nintendo lady brought it in when she was droping off shit for the store. I got to play with the metroid demo. It was really cool. The ds is about the same size and weigh as much as the gba. Ill be getting one after playing it.
|
i dunno, doesnt look that intriqueing to me, i bet most games wont use that second screen for anything too useful. Just another thing to wear the battery life down. Speaking of which does anyone know how good the battery life is?
|
Nintendo is inovative, and the people who sign with nintendo will use the 2nd screen with every game, otherwise they wouldnt have anything new to offer to the system. Trust me, were going to see it used with most games, most likey in some way with all.
|
I wasn't too fond of nintendo 64, so I'll probably pass on this one.
GBA = snes (kick ass system) DS = n64 (had maybe 2 or 3 good games) |
Thing is, the DS is gonna actually have decent 3rd party support =) Plus it plays GBA games. So there.

Nope. Only DS games and GBA games.

have any of you seen the new DS ad campaign. i breathed a sigh of relief (sad, i know) when i saw that it was geared towards a new and older audience. nintendo has really been meeting it's deadlines and giving itself a much needed facelift since iwata got the reigns.
you can download the ads at their marketing firm's website: http://www.leoburnett.com/breaking/nintendo/ds.htm it appears nintendo is trying to get off on a better foot this time. they'll need to cut into the young adult crowd if they want to beat sony over the long run. |
I appreciate that Nintendo is trying to innovate for their handhelds, but unless there's a game that just makes having a touch screen absolutely necessary, I don't think the commercial success will be there.
|
Uh, dude, nearly every DS game so far incorporates the screen. Just stop hating already! Even if you don't use the touch screen, there's still wireless GBA gaming.
|
I'm sure they incorporate the screen, and I'm all for alternative interfaces and peripherals, but how many of these games NEED a touch screen?
Believe me, I want it to succeed. I'm just waiting with baited breath. |
Have you seen Yoshi Touch and Go ? This game uses the touch screen the best out of the games Ive seen so far.
Look it up on gamespot or IGN. Itll show you a very innovative way to use the DS |

As soon as im 100% on the wireless internet gaming.. im sold.
Sure the PSP looks sexy, but the 300 dollar price point sure doesnt. Plus most of the psp games i've seen are console ports.. Oh yeah and the battery life sucks, it has to spin a disc (loading time), etc..etc.. Touch and go, XX:YY and MarioKart DS plus pictochat have already sold me on the DS.. i'm just waiting to see if i can play online.. The real question is, How am I going to fit all my junk, a sidekick2 and a DS in one purse? |
Just tried it at my coworker's desk. It's interesting. The prediction going around is that hardcore gamers will latch onto it instantly, but it may be too much for casual gamers to wrap their mind around.
Time will tell. |
A friend of mine picked one up, I was surprised at the low-quality image of the screens. I guess I'll just wait for the emulator or something, since there is only one game I want (Animal Crossing DS).
|
Why do yall even like handhelds? The only thing they have going for them is that they're portable.. Otherwise they're just mini consoles with small screens and shitty graphics.
I could never justify spending $200 just so I could waste even more time on video games. Hell, if the thing cost $50 I might be tempted, but $200??? No way... |
