You don't think you get enough hours in at home playing on a console so you have to supplement it with a handheld for when you're not at home?
And you're willing to pay $200 for that "privilege?" I like video games as much as the next guy, but there's a point when it becomes unhealthy.... |
I can see some very interesting and innovative games that could come out using the touch screen. I looked at one that a friend of mine picked up today. He only had the mario game, and while it did look ok, I don't think it really used the touch screen all that well. Really, what other big innovations in gaming have there been lately? Nice to see that somebody is thinking outside the box (albeit, PDAs have had touch screens like that for years)

Some people happen to be in situations where regular console videogames aren't a possibility. My parents kicked me outta the house this past summer so I stayed with my girlfriend's mom for over a month straight. I played my GBA everyday after work if I wasn't spending time with my GF. They're not simply portable game systems that are for freaks who can't go 5 minutes without their consoles...it's for other reasons like folks who don't have console capabilities. And the average portable system is $100-$150, not $200. On top of that, the power that the DS and PSP have is easily worth $200 even moreso than the GBA. -Lasereth |
I just picked up the Nintendo DS with Feel the Magic and Super Mario 64, and I must say I am having a lot of fun. I keep playing my Nintendo DS and negleting my other cosnoles/PC :P.

I still feel like the DS is gimmicky. I think it's all up to the game manufacturers to make games that practically take advantage of the touch screen and dual screen technology.
Admittedly, the DS has it's corner of the market... the only competitors right now is the N*Gage (HA!) and its own GBA. |
Initial Jumbled Thoughts:
Go out and try one. It's such a great system. SUPER MARIO 64 DS is FUCKING AWESOME! Contrary to prior thought, the stylus isn't too uncomfortable. The thumbpad takes a REALLY long time to get used to YOSHI BREATHES FIRE!!! That is all. |
