Favorite old Sega Genesis game?
 

Alright everyone. What's your favorite Sega Genesis game?? I remember it was a cut above the graphics of the SNES and came with that game called (I do believe) Legendary Beasts.

My favorite game was called "Phantasy Star". LOVED IT!!! There was another game that I can't remember the name of that was cool and it was cool as hell!! You walked around (Side scroller) and fought people with a sword. There was a lot of blood as you fought and it was kewl for the time. :)

BUT...Phantasy Star was definitely my favorite game of that console.

The best was when you could have the second player be Tails.

Was it "Altered Beast?" Or was that another? Hm...

I think my favorite was Toejam and Earl, but that might also be because I always played it with my older brother... at this point, I honestly don't even remember if it was any good :p

Actually I just came up with this thread because of my thinking about "Phantasy Star". It would be good to know if others feel the same way.

Skitchin'...you were on roller blades and raced by grabbing on to passing cars bumpers....wasn't on the market too long before the do-gooders threw a fit and got it removed, but i do have this system emulated on my pc and play it every once in a while

Beyond Oasis.

Landstalker. Never beat it, and its haunted me ever since.

This game called gunstar heroes. You could mix weapon types to get the most badass weapons possible. I remember the laser one with normal bullets got you a homing device and you just walked with the shoot button down and owned everyone. Good times.

Wow, those are my top three right there.

After that would have to be the X-men game. Oh man, I miss my genesis now.

Shining Force - easily the favorite game of my childhood. My best friend and I would stay up all night playing it, as it was our first experience with an RPG kind of game, and we were fascinated.

Phantasy Star II was one of my fav games on the Genesis also - that's why I picked up Phantasy Star Collection for the GBA - you should check it out. It has Phantasy Star I, II, and III on the cart - and they're absolutely perfect. They look just like the genesis versions. I guess it was a waste for me since I have a Nomad and the genesis carts anyway, but at least I get those 3 on one and I can play PSIV on my Nomad.

NO WAY!!! :( though...I don't have a GBA. I have a PS2 and that's it. ARG! If they put it out for the PC...I would be all over it!!!

Im in the Gunstar Heroes crowd also. That game rules. Brilliant design, awesome bosses and geniune frantic gameplay.

I think all I ever played were Madden football, and NHPLA Hockey. I also played NBA Jam, but I could kick anyone's ass in the first two mentions. When they first came out with the adapter so 4 could play, I think we played hockey for over a day straight!

Oh man, how could I forget RR. I think that my memories were just overwhelmed by my Gameshark-using bliss when RR 3D came out for PS1.

Also a great game! I never got very far in it, but it had a very, very cool feel to it. God that was an awesome game.

I'm a lil' shocked that nobody's mentioned this excellent puzzle-game: Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. I'm almost stunned that Contra: Hard Corpse hasn't been named. Last, I'm flat-out disappointed that Boogerman hasn't been nominated a minimum of 25 times yet.

...Okay, I lied about that last one, but Boogerman's a fun game nonetheless. Check it out sometime if ya get the chance.

Altered Beast and Golden Axe, hands down. (Don't forget the 32x edition of Doom)

YES!!!! Golden Axe!!! A friend of mine still has his Genesis and I found Golden Axe in a discount bin at my local Gamestop. So now, everytime I visit we play. We can never finish though as you know...the end game is a bitch!

Holy crap, I can't believe I forgot to say Golden Axe...2, that is. Never played the other ones, but #2 was the bomb-diggity.

Shining Force is better than a lot of the newer RPGs. I'm playing through it again right now on the GBA.

World Series Baseball '95...the best baseball game of the 16-bit era.
