Which "Band" game for Wii ?
Hello all.
I am not a gamer. I played Guitar Hero at a friends and had fun. My kids are planning on getting a Wii so I want to know which is the best band game to get for Wii. I want to play drums too sometimes. Rockband II is on clearance right now for under $100.00 I don't even know what games there are right now. I'd be looking for a bundle with the game, and guitars, and drums, and mic etc. Thanks for what I'm sure will be great advice. |

Guitar Hero World Tour on the Wii (all other platforms is RB2).
Here is why: The guitar hero instruments are better quality and are compatible with RB2. RB2 instruments cannot be used with Guitar Hero games (on the Wii platform only). Thus by GHWT and then if you want to get RB2 you can buy just the game. |

I've heard the drums on GH: World Tour are better design, but I haven't tried them. Rock Band II is fun. I know that for sure. Might as well get it if it's a good price.

That compatibility chart is wrong for the Wii.
Here is a different one that has different compatibilities listed. Instrument Compatibility Matrix v4.50 - Joystiq As you can see the GHWT drums/guitar work with RB2 but the reverse is not true. Last edited by Rekna; 01-07-2009 at 06:38 AM.. |

Crap, thanks, Rekna. Actually, you just posted the one I was looking for. I saw that a few months ago and didn't know where I found it.

Thanks for the notes so far gang....
That vid is awesome, I'm a child of the 80's !!! The instruments to GHWT do look (visually only) a little more appealing. I like the cymbal being where it should be. Does anyone know if there's a song list chart somewhere ? Rockband Jazz ?? - ok ok lol |

It's gonna be different for everyone, but I think the Rock Band 2 track list is better than GHWT....

Guitar Hero is definitely tuned higher on the harder difficulty levels than Rock Band. I shredded my way through the hard songs on expert in Rock Band without really having to practice or see them before, and I've been stuck on the last tier of Guitar Hero 3 for about six months now. I kind of feel like Rock Band is a bit better about getting into than GH, but I'd mostly go off the track list.

I think the Rock Band instruments are of higher quality than the GH:WT instruments (mainly the drum set) but I've heard differing opinions on that as well. The RB drums seemed better built and more responsive, particularly the floor pedal.

The problem with the RB drums is they have that 4th pad and no cymbals making them pretty unrealistic. Also as I said before for the Wii the GHWT instruments are compatible with both games but the RB2 ones are not. |

The Aerosmith and Metallica versions of Guitar Hero amuse me. There's something entertaining about the idea of playing a full-blown cover band, like they've decided to stop trying.

Good point. Each game has something different to offer; that's how the compete. Of course, you can leave out certain titles if you know there isn't enough general interest in song lists. Most seem to be fairly mainstream in appeal.
