Internet Scrabble
For a couple of years now, I've been playing Scrabble online and thought I would start a thread with the site information so TFP'ers could enjoy as well. The site is internet scrabble and the set up takes about 5 minutes. You download a little program (small, takes about 30 seconds) and it stays on your computer and connects you to the server when you want to play. There are instructions on the site, you can be up and playing in about 5 minutes.
I thought it would be fun if TFP'ers post their scrabble handles so we could play each other. Mine is Peterpasha.

OMG OMG OMG... FINALLY!!!!
I've been a member of the ISC for almost two years, and I kinda lost interest after too long because I wasn't running into enough of the same players all the time. I love you all. Seriously. My handle is (surprise!) "supplecow"... none other.

First scrabble game in too many years and I just had my butt handed to me. (shakes fist in air)
This could be dangerous for my time, ego, or both.

it's been a looong time since i played, so i am tuning up vs. the hasbro cd-rom version. i just posted 509 pts. all thanks to "supplant" from the top left corner, triple word through a P already on the board with a blank (as the L) hitting a second triple word with the T. 179 pts. damn. i'm pretty sure that's my highest play ever. if only that was against one of you. or even any person. i don't feel like it counts against a program with great vocab, but questionable logic. i'll be up on internet scrabble soon, and i'll post my name here. i imagine it'll be some version of doodlebird. productivity be damned!
edit: fixed spelling errors.

I'm so glad I started this thread. After about close to 3 years of playing against my gf, I now have a whole whack of people in my buddy list, any of whom may be on at any given time.

I'm still a little hazy on the computer's rules. I was getting my ass handed to me last night, but I won because of some sort of forfeit technicality - didn't seem right, as by any rational measurement, my opponent was winning.
On the other hand, I think he might have been cheating - he had all these crazy two letter words that I've never heard of, but he kept challenging pretty basic words I was using, as if he didn't know them... So maybe it was karma.

At the end of the time, you get an extra minute, but at the end of that minute, you forfeit the game, whether you are winning or not. You can specify how long you want your games to be in Options. Select Set Variables, and you can change the time for your games to anything you want. I usually find that 25 minutes is enough for a challenging game. There is a setting you can use that adds a minute to your clock after every correct move. There are also lists of words in the help file. I usually find it handy to use the right click on the mouse and open up the 2,3,4 word lists in their own window or tab, then you can refer to them whenever you want.
