Fight Night 3 (360)
Incredible. They have the demo available for download in the 360 marketplace. If you are a fan of the series, this will make you shit your pants.
Check it out, I can't wait till it's released. Feb. 14th is the release date so far, Hopefully it doesn't get delayed. |
Played the demo. Probably some of the best graphics I've ever seen on a console game.
edit: or any game, for that matter |
Roy Jones Jr looks like he's tweaking or he's on crack or something. Or maybe he's got a mosquito in his ear. His manerisms are maddening. He keeps twitching! It's driving me crazy!!!
Great demo, though. Hope they speed it up a bit before release. Shows promise. |
I played this on my friends 360 and this is the first game/demo that made me say "This is next-gen graphics." Plus it was the first thing I've played on the 360 that's actually fun. Can't wait to see the final product.

Considering it's got all the grunt of the 360 focused on basically two character models, you'd want it to look good ;) I hope the iron out the niggles that showed up in FN2, like the horrible animated menus you couldn't skip, the stupid white flash in the replays when you land a haymaker (like 90% of the time) and the dorky commentator that calls all haymakers haymakers. Oh, and a less stupid parry system that doesn't give the AI a stupidly huge advantage.
Other than that, I like the system ;) It will be one to watch - perhaps a Rev version is coming? Hmm... |
I just played the demo for this today. The presentation was amazing. However, the controls felt sluggish. I'm hoping it was just the particular boxer.(I don't remember who it was, but it wasn't Roy Jones.) Personally I'm used to playing as Ali and other quick boxers in Fight Night 2, so the punching speed/response time was the first thing I noticed. Anyone else feel that way?
|
the game is slightly slower than previous entries for the series, not sure why. It could be because the hardware would suffer at a higher rate of punching, or that they felt the slower puncing speed better emulated real-life boxing. I cant wait till next week, this is a definite purchase for me.

I've been playing the game for a few days now, I think I have about 32ish wins in my lightweight career. It just now started to get difficult. I just had a fight go all 12 rounds for the first time. It was a pretty intense fight because I went for the KO early but ran my stamina low and spent most of the fight recovering.
This game really boosted my gamerscore quick. I think it's amost 4000 now :) |
I had intended to purchase this game, but then I heard a lot of people saying there were bugs in the game. Have any of you guys had any problems?
I like the fact that Gatti & Ward are in the game. A friend and I were just flippin channels one day and stopped on a random boxing match that was on (Gatti-Ward fight). It turned out to be the greatest boxing match we'd ever seen. If you haven't seen it, I recommend trying to find it somewhere. There were a couple rematches, but none of them came close to the first. |
I played this game the other day in the store, basically because I've never played a 360 game and I've heard awesome things about this one.
I actually considered buying a 360 solely for this game, it was that fun. I still might, but I just don't know if I have the cash to spare right now. |
I got it in the mail the other day on my Gamefly account. It is freaking awesome. I played a couple quick bouts, then jumped into a career mode as Ali. The graphics are great, the play control can be as easy or detailed as you like (if you want to use the joystick to punch instead of the buttons), and I think it is the most "realistic" boxing game I've seen.
Definitely recommended. |
I ended up buying it too. There are a few bugs, but they're pretty minor. Sometimes the commentator may get cut-off during an instant replay, for example. I jumped straight into the career mode myself. My current record is 24-3-0 with 22 KO's and my reputation status is "Next Champ". It's addictive.
Oh, and the Burger King is in it. Haha! I thought the blatant advertising in the game was kinda silly, but having the Burger King as a trainer is just hilarious. http://www.adjab.com/images/2005/04/burgerking_150.jpg |
Good game. Lotsa fun. Only gripe I have is that it's a bit slow. When your guy tires (especially heavyweights), he moves so unrealistically slow I want to punch the television. It's just a bit overdone.
|
I've been playing this game a lot... it's definitely my favorite game on Xbox 360 so far. My biggest complaint is the flash KO punches, they are so cheap. I don't mind them when I pull them off, but it's just terrible when it happens to me. They're really easy to anticipate and block so it's not a huge problem, but eventually one gets through if it's all the other guy throws.
