Quebecers Unite ! Vive le QC !
Montreal , Lasalle here.
bonjour/Hello to all. |
Montreal, Hochelaga (in the shadow of the UFO), by way of St-Henri (in the shadow of Westmount).
I know there are a few Montrealers on the TFP. How about the rest of Quebec? Bienvenue a tous (sorry, Japanese computers do not permit accent usage). |
Hey, im from st-hubert which is on the south shore of montreal.
|
Only time I've ever been to Montreal is when my flight to Halifax got delayed for a few hours because of icing problems. Place seemed nice enough, though I dont speak a word of French and got ignored a lot. I know at least one of the pricks spoke english, because his face turned red when I insulted his mother.

bonne st-jean !!!!!!!!!! Fêter pas trop fort tout le monde !
For those who dont know, the st-jean is quebecs national holiday, june 24th. |
Bonne St-Jean en retard! It was real disappointing to miss all the festivities by being all the way out in Japan, but French was spoken on that day!
To answer slimpiggy, the laws do not impair the availability of English. With the Internet so widely available, anyone could find resources in English. Furthermore, until more movies and shows are translated in Quebec, instead of France (where the jargon is MUCH different than ours), then francophones (like myself) will continue to watch the English versions instead, thereby increasing their English skills. Also, it all depends on location. Someone living in Vancouver or Calgary will not have a lot of contact with francophones, much like people living in Quebec City or Saguenay Lac-St-Jean won't hear much English on a day-to-day business. Therefore, it's up to each individual to determine his/her needs. If you want access to more jobs, learn both French and English. It's that simple. Hell, learn other languages, too! The more skills you have, the better off you'll be. |
Phew!
You had me worried there for a second. The last time I heard someone say "Quebecers Unite", the result was 49.44% Yes, and 50.56% No. Oh, and for the record, I was born in Val D'Or, most of my relatives live in small communities surrounding Montreal, and their accent Joual is so thick, I can barely understand any of them. |
From Montreal here, in the shadow of the big O and Nos Z'amours les Expos!!

Originally from Ville St. Laurent on the island of Montreal.

La Corne, Abitibi, halfway between Val-d'Or and Amos... moving to Rouyn-Noranda, anytime soon. Hello all.
|
Montreal, Plateau Mont-Royal, next to Laurier Park.
I'm from here and I believe Montreal has some of the most gorgeous women in the world. Not bragging, just mentioning it for anyone interested ;) |
Living in St. Laurent, born in Baie D`Urfe. The women are the best I`ve seen, on a per capita basis.
|

No argument from me. Montreal's home to some extremely beautiful scenery! Arguably the only true cosmopolitan city in Canada. |
Not from Quebec, but been ALL over it it seems.
From Hull to Montreal, to Trois Rivieres, to Quebec City, to Lac St. Jean, to Clairmont to Baie Commeau, to Sept Isle, across the river to Matane, to Rimouski, to Mont Joli, to Amqui, to New Carlisle, to Port Daniel, to Chandler to Perce (nice rock), to Gaspe. And every little town inbetween everyone of those towns. Hundreds of times. Je travail a Quebec beaucoup. Great Thai restaurant - Thai Grille in Montreal on St. Laurant and Laurier I believe. |

Though I love the way Montrealers can so smoothly switch from perfect French to perfect English like it was nothing. Now that's something you can't find in Toronto. |
We could also kick your ass in hockey any damn day!
West Islander here. :) |

I'm from the West Island. |
Bonjour, I live just 10 km south of the Macdonald-Cartier Freeway, near woodbine avenue and Queen East,
Ya it's about 6 hours away, but then its seems that getting to work on some days takes that long too! Met my hubby in MTL, at a Concordia/Queen's football game. astounding city! |
I love Montreal!! And Quebec!
I spent 6 months there when my girl friend (ex) was at Concordia. There is a restaurant on rue Ontario called the Spirit Lounge! Dose anyone know it? I love that place! |
