Provoke me!
This'll be great... Explain? Okay.
Any topic? Explore it! Any opinion? Go ahead, grab a soapbox! Yes, any topic, opinion, theory, point of view, cause of concern, paranoia, anxiety, depression, sleep deprivation, common cold, drug use, whatever! But this isn't just for the distressed, this thread is for everybody, relay to everyone (or no one) your trains of thought, your cause of cure, or just your cause! This will be the thread to toss up opinions, provoke discussion and argument as the same thing. We will in effect be messin' with the science of point of view, my expertise. It'll be great, I think we'll all stand to gain a few IQ points from this. ---------- Post added at 10:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:36 PM ---------- Okay, here's a thought that's been rattling around in me for a while. BOOGERS! Lots of boogers, different types, shapes, colors, and natures. Boogers with hairs, boogers with little seeds you sniffed up earlier. I like boogers, they're a beautifully integral part of nature! So here's a provokation: Monkeys didn't have tissues, did they? So when our ancestors got sick, what did they do? I don't mean the ones that died, that's too easy, but I have sorta wondered about what would happen to a monkey dying of the common cold. But, the ones that lived. Monkeys have better senses of smell than we do, not as good as a dog's, but better than ours. So being evolved monkeys, don't you think that our sensitive monkey-noses aren't adapted to being worn raw by tissues? Could we not just swallow our mucous and somehow direct it down through our sinuses to our stomachs? It'd save a whole lot on tissues...

Yet can Suck! a sun into a black hole, if only because the black hole is stronger... So, whaddaya think? Who is more right, theists or atheists? ---------- Post added at 10:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:50 PM ---------- I root for whoever is losing, myself. ---------- Post added at 10:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:51 PM ---------- So go ahead! Provoke Me!

I hate people who can't merge? It's simple! FUCK.
Person who is already on the street/highway/bridge: Watch the person pulling in and speed up, slow down, MOVE INTO THE OTHER LANE, to accommodate them. Person merging: DO THE SAME FUCKING THING! FUCK! Thanks.

Skitto?
I think your idea just needs a little refinement. Fotzlid's provocation seems to have a point. Don't be shy. Look around a little. I think you'll find the freedom to hear as well as speak.

Why is it that we live in a world of experts? Everywhere we look, read, hear, watch,....someone is giving us their expert opinion. Since when have we all become so qualified on every topic known to man?
And why is it that these so well informed expert opinions are usually topics that don't directly affect our everyday life? Because it is safe? Because we can spew all kinds of nonsense and in the end just walk away from it,..like it was disposible,...something like the expert opinion we just gave? Even worse are those with expert opinions who spew their nonsense but in the end, the overiding hypocrisy of their expert thoughts are overwhelming. Case in point. I care about the environment. I have been recycling since I was a little kid, due to my parents actions regarding such,...long before it was fashionable. Recently I was taken to task by someone with an expert opinion because of not turning my lights out for Earth Day. Forgive me for saying,...but I am not jumping on the bandwagon for 1 hour a day, once a year just to parade around pounding my chest saying, "I 'm saving the planet , man." Absolute bullshit. And for what? To raise awareness for global warming? News flash,..if you haven't heard about global warming yet, live under a smaller rock. So regarding this person who was so upset because I disregarded the lights out on Earth Day bandwagon,,...I queried them as to what efforts they were making to lobby for better environmental standards in their own backyard. You see, in the city I live in, everytime it rains, hundreds of thousands of litres of raw sewage is going from the filtration plants directly into the river,..the same river me and everyone get our water supply from. Now you would think that this expert on the environment would be all over this,...informing the community, pressuring local council members, pressuring the province, pressuring environmental agencies to lobby government for change, informing media, establishing local watch groups etc. But no,...and why? Seems that person can turn their stupid lights out for an hour on Earth Day, effectively accomplishing nothing but looking stupid sitting in the dark but has no time for something so important that can and will have a direct affect on them and their family. Yup, an expert on everything environmental but when push comes to shove,...and when real action needs to be taken,...umm,..geez,..I just can't find the time. Expert hypocrisy in it's finest form " I'm saving the fucking planet, man." |

Gonna hafta somewhat disagree. When I'm about to merge onto a highway, I have a yield sign. Few things irritate me more than someone, already in the travel lanes, slows down to let me out in front of them. Why? because I'm already attempting to do what the law requires me to, yield the right of way. Now, because you had to be all 'nicey' I have to play the "no you first" game. And finally, either floor it to merge with traffic at speed or be the idiot trying to merge at 35 because you couldn't just go on your merry way and take the right of way the law has granted you.

...the name "Jesus Christ". You're either intensely provoked by it or intensely comforted by it. I can't think of another name in history that continues to evoke such passionate and dramatic diversity of emotions...not even the name "God" does that.
