A friend showed me this experiment, and I thought it might interest TFPers.

So... what do YOU think?

It's just another example of China's filtering of the internet.

I think that it proves that images have power - and the te Chines totalitarian experiment has lasted longer than the Russian vrsion because the Chinese know about the power of images.

That probably means I'll never be allowed into China now, which is a shame, because I'd like to go there one day.

I'd be interested to see how long the site stays up before being censured... I doubt that their government filters will allow anyone to see it even if google allows the search. Also, who in china would bother to look up such words when they would be quickly arrested and sent to jail...

Is that a call to terrorism?

This was pretty big news a few months ago. Google are working with the Chineese authorities to provide a filtered search engine. Crtics of Google claim that in doing this, they are supporting and condoning the oppresive censorship in China. Google justify their actions by saying that if they didn't play ball, then their site would be blocked altogether.
