 this is funny only because I'm a college student who doesn't exactly get to have all those wonderful mixed drinks yet...
put a corona in front of me and i'm good to go... or a forty. even better. rum and coke is always good. i also enjoy mike's hard lemonade and smirnoff. Hmmm... at least I've gotten away from McCormick's. blech. |
OK, my favorite drinks are:
-Chocolate Martinis -Cran & Grey Goose -Irish Car bombs (if I remember correctly, a glass of stout with a shot of whiskey [Jameson? Cannot spell it!], drop a shot of Irish Cream into it and slug it down before it curdles! Sounds icky, but it's great--and I don't even drink beer! -shots of Barenjaeger--it's a honey/vodka liquor, hard to find in my neck of the woods :( Great stuff, if you're into sweet drinks! Hello from a Rookie, everyone! |
Pepe Hitler (A pre-Godwined Shot)
1 oz Cheap Tequila 1 oz Jeagermeister. The Jagermeister cuts the burn out of the tequila, and the tequila cuts the syrupiness out of the Jaeger, and together they don't taste any worse than they do apart. |
OK, I want to put in a plug here:
Last weekend, I pulled a tap at the Old Dominion Brew Festival n Ashburn VA. For 5 hours Sunday, I was filling people's glasses with River Horse, Our Special Ale, and Trippel Horse. I have got to say that, of the probably hundred different pale ales I have had, Riverhorse Special is easily the best. It's incredibly smooth and exquisitely well balanced between malt and hops, and rounded out perfectly with just a whisper of oak. It's a fantastic beer. Trippel Horse is their Belgian Style trippel, and it stacks up against any of the Belgians. It's got a nice, sweet front end, and a refreshingly dry back end. Light bodied, and packed full of all those neat esters and phenols that a good Belgian yeast will give you. I could pick up vanilla, plum, granny smith apple, and maybe a hint of clove. I highly recommend this brewery to any beer lover: River Horse //plug Also, made the perfect boilermaker the other day, with all due respect to the trappist boilermaker discussed earlier: 11 oz Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout 2 oz Makers Mark Bourbon Good Stuff! |

Sex with an Alligator, painful as it sounds, is my favorite martini ever. does anyone have a recipe? chambord on bottom, midori and something else in the middle (that's what i can't figure out) and jager floating on top. mmmm... the blue martini in deland, fl, also makes a killer Space Pussy and i have no idea what it is. but after two Scooby Snacks and a few Space Pussies, i found myself smoking a cigar and playing pool barefoot against a guy with no teeth. welcome to florida, y'all. |
I'm rather fond of Irish Carbombs. Did 5 within a 10 minute span this last St. Patty's (I'm in a fraternity. Me likey drunkeness.)
My fraternity brother, however, decided to do a carbomb with everyone who had never done one, so he did about 16 carbombs that night. I'm in love with Brass Monkeys - A 40 oz of OE, mixed with OJ. Sounds awful, but is actually quite tasty. The wonderful part of drinking 40's of anything is that it's more cost efficient if you're looking for a single night of drunkeness, rather than paying for cases of beer. White Russians are nice as well. Oh, also. Another fraternity created a concept drink we've never tried, but always laugh about. He named it "The Highschooler" - Beer mixed with Nyquil. |
Mixed drinks: White Russian, Cape Cod, Chocolate Martinis... basically, vodka base, fruit juice, cream or chocolate added.
Beer: Partial to ale and lager, favorites include, Guiness, Skullsplitter, Holy Grail Ale and Harps. |
Jagermiester chilled
Crown Royal on the rocks Bicardi 151 and diet coke Heiniken beer Colt 45 (40 ounce) Zombi (Chinese mixed drink) |
made some good ones last night. i'm trying to use up my stock before i move, but i don't think i'm going to make it with my liver intact....
the best was my chocolate martini...started with 1 tsp cocoa powder in a sauce pan, 2 tbps sugar and 1/4 c water. boil for about a minute, remove from heat and mix in a splash of half and half. add to shaker with plenty of ice. add two shots each creme de cacao, bailey's, and vodka. makes 4 drinks. not really going to do any serious damage, but you could play with the proportions. the main idea was to start with a really rich chocolate base, and then add from there. perhaps chilling the mix without ice would help concentrate it... |

Flaming Dr. Peppers and Cherry Bombs are also good. |
Here's one for everyone to try:
The Blood of Satan 1 shot Jaegermeister 1 shot Goldschlagger 1 shot Jack or other bourbon 1 shot Scotch Stir to mix and pour over ice. |
Anyone who likes a good beer, try any DogFish Head beer, if you're on the east coast and can get your hands on it.
I just read the book by the guy who founded it...amazing. Their prices are premium, but their beer is worth it. I just can't tell you much love and creativity goes into this stuff. It's all I drink now, just about. (It's also 7-9% alcohol content, 2-3 will have you off your ass) |

Couple of months ago they had a recipe for a 90 minute IPA clone in Zymurgy. Throw all the hops together in a bowl and throw in 6 grams every 5 minutes. Looks interesting. One of theirs that I would stay away from, though, is the 120 minute IPA. At 10 bucks a 12oz bottle, it's way pricy, and, frankly, it sucks. Tastes like hops flavored corn syrup. Blecch. (Now, I could have gotten a bad bottle, but for 10 bucks a pop, they had better all be good.) For extreme beer, you should also check out Stone Brewing, the guys who make Arrogant Bastard Ale. |

Yeah, but only if you drink like a wuss.

Grey Goose in a chilled glass, with a few ice cubes = the end. :D
Other than that, I love me some Captain and Coke (especially Coke w/lime if I don't have fresh lime to put in it). I've recently started trying some scotches as well. I had some Chivas Regal Royal Salute 21 year old stuff that was just AWESOME!!!! :) Not a big fan of the traditional Johnny Walker though. I've tried everything from Red to Blue, and it's just not my thing. |
