Post your favorite mixed drinks, wines, beers, moonshine recipes, et cetera.

0.5oz Peachtree Schnapps
Fill tall glass to top with Squirt (Diet or Regular)

It's pretty tasty!

radioguy 09-22-2004 05:16 PM

for the harder drinking days, spend some cash on the Crown Royal Special Reserve. Put that baby in the freezer for a while and drink straight out of the bottle :) so smooth, so good, so tasty!!!!

omega2K4 09-22-2004 08:19 PM

Chilled Courvoisier XO Imperiale.

roachboy 09-23-2004 09:44 AM

i am being introduced to the wonderful world of single malt scotch by a friend of mine--if i could figure out a way to deal with the unbelievable hangovers, i would say i liked this world.

when it's hot outside: bombay gin and perrier

other times: trappist beers.

fallenangel 09-23-2004 07:00 PM

I like my creamy drinks on occasion. It tastes like chocolate milk to me and i can drink this any time of day.

Has anyone heard of and knows how to make a Weekend at Charter Peachford? I believe that it will be a drink more known around Atlanta because that's where the Charter Peachford rehab clinic is. I'm told that it's a shot and is made from many different ingredients. Any help would be great.

bad_husband 09-28-2004 07:52 PM

bad_husband 10-01-2004 11:34 AM

Tasty Pussy (shot): Yukon Jack, Sour Rasberry Liquere.

Willravel 10-02-2004 09:52 AM

Um Martini...haha

1-2 parts Italian (DRY) Vermouth
8 parts Grey Goose or Balance Vodka, or Beefeater London Gin (NOTHING ELSE)
1-2 parts Ice
1 perfect Greek green olive (from Greece)

I don't freeze my gin/vodka before mixing, as the ice needs to balance out the powerful flavor of the gin/vodka in a perfect Martini. The original reason people started using vodka in Martinis was because bartenders thought that a dry Martini meant a Martini with less vermouth. This is a myth. Gin is a very powerful drink that usually needs something to balance the flavor so it is still full bodied, but is not overpowering. Shake to blend ice, as it helps to distrublute the ice better.

Ahhhh *sips*.

Draconis 10-03-2004 10:24 AM

Sorry Willravel, I'm a Bombay Sapphire man when it comes to martinis. However, I ended up using this one for a party this weekend.

Green Beret
1/2 shot vodka
1/2 shot green creme de menthe

All you gotta do is chill the alcohol first. From there on out, it's just a straight pour and slam shot.

CandleInTheDark 10-03-2004 05:54 PM

Snake Bite
1 part Tequila
1 part JD
1 part rye wiskey

Serve in a shot glass and slam

Tequila

Gin

This is also called 'The Gauntlet'.

TonySpilotro 10-07-2004 07:50 AM

The Burda: Absolut(or any good vodka) and apple juice. I know it may sound weird/gross, but trust me. Great drink, unless you don't like apple juice of course...

Draconis 10-09-2004 10:23 PM

i just tried this one ^ it's great

bad_husband 10-13-2004 07:32 AM

Prarie Fire (shot): Tequila w/ tabasco

bad_husband 10-13-2004 07:34 AM

Don't know what this ones called but:

Corona, drink the neck off, no lime
pour 1oz of Barcardi Limon in and enjoy.

warning: these little bastards sneek up on ya.

bad_husband 10-13-2004 07:37 AM

One of my favorites (good dessert)

Black Russian: Good Vodka (pref Stolli Vanilla) and Khalua on the rocks.

add milk for a White Russian ala "the dude"

add a splash of coke to the white russian for a Vodka Paralyzer

Paralyzers can be made with tequila, rootbeer schnapps, or bannana liquere in place of the vodka.

tybalt 10-16-2004 01:11 PM

I am partial to chocolate martinis, but thats already listed, so here's another favorite of mine. the Naked Girlscout:
1 part Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
1 part Rumple Minze

JohnnyCarson 10-16-2004 05:33 PM

Ok, finally learned what was in this, or approximately.

Not sure about the ratios but probably equal amounts of each:
Rumple minze, Midori, Firewater, Barenjager, Jagermeister.

And they're poured in that order (I think) and layered (assuming that's the correct order otherwise they won't layer correctly). I had it served in a Martini glass and you just try and shot it, and damn was it ever good.

ScottKuma 11-09-2004 06:10 AM

Bailey's Irish Creme & Amaretto over ice (1 part each).

YUMMY.

sub zero 11-19-2004 07:39 PM

If not Sam Adams..Brandy with coke...and although many may complain that it way too sweet...I have an enormous sweet tooth..not really sure about the ratios but just to cover up the worst of the alchol sting.

merkerguitars 11-19-2004 10:22 PM

Not sure about the names of these but I know whats in them

First drink
apple pucker and 7up

Second drink
UV blue and 7up

Wow, around here Red Pop has a strawberry flavor, not raspberry.

Where are you from, Nancy?

sapphire 11-25-2004 11:11 AM

I like Tom Collins (kinda old fashioned but still good) GIn, Lemon juice and club soda

or

Hollywood: vodka, black raspberry liqueur and cranberry juice

Bacchanal 11-25-2004 03:05 PM

Jack Daniels in any form. Regular, Gentleman Jack and Single Barrel are all very good.

Crown Royal Special Reserve isn't too bad.

Bookers is really good also. Made by Jim Beam's grandson. It's 126 proof, but can be chased rather easily. I've never mixed it with anything though.

As far as beer goes, I love my imports! Heineken, Corona, Sapporo, Dos Equis, Red Stripe, Leffe Blonde (when I can find it).

xepherys 01-30-2005 11:49 AM

What kind of beer is Leffe Blonde?

Fiver 01-31-2005 02:05 AM

take a watermelon, cut the top off, scoop out about one third of the flesh, and fill the rest up with vodka. Chill it for an afternoon. Oh my god. Eat , and drink the the melon, and it is so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can use Captain Morgan Spiced Rum for this, too. It's uber yummy, too.

Bryndian_Dhai 01-31-2005 02:46 AM

I have to have a "taste" for a particular liquor to drink it. Sometimes I want bourbon, sometimes I want whiskey, sometimes vodka.... y'all get my drift.

Anyway, these are what I choose when I'm ordering....

I drink Jack Daniels Single Barrel, on the rocks, or regular black Jack with a spash of 7.

Stoli vodka martinis.

Black Russians with either regular or Vanilla Stoli.

Tuaca on the rocks or with a splash of ginger ale.

The only mass distributed domestic beer I drink is Shiner Bock. I love Guinness, and any stout or dark ales. I do sometimes drink microbrews, but I'm kind of picky about the beer I drink.

I love wine... mostly Zinfandels, Ravenswood Lodi Zin or Seven Deadly Zins are my favorites.

As for shots, my hubby runs a bar, so we get to try lots and lots of great shots. My personal favorites are:

Oatmeal cookies: Equal parts Hot Damn, Bailey's and Buttershots. Mix and chill... These taste JUST like those old-fashioned cheap oatmeal cookies that you buy by the big bag.

Red Snappers are very popular at the bar, (equal parts Crown Royal, Amaretto and cranberry juice) but I dislike Crown, so the bartenders make it for me with Stoli, Amaretto and cranberry juice.

My hubby makes Hawaiian Punch shots: 1/2 oz Stoli, 1/2 oz Southern Comfort, 1/4 oz Amaretto, splash each of orange juice, pineapple juice, grenadine and 7up. They are soooooooooo good, and sneak up on you really quickly.

And one of our bartenders makes a shot that he calls a Chilly Willy. It's a flaming dunk-and-gulp shot, but its so good.... Fill a tall glass half full of one of the clear malt beverages (Bacardi Silver, Bacardi Black, Zima, etc) and 1/2 oz Blue Curacao. Fill a shot glass with schnapps.... I like Apple Pucker, but any Pucker you like will work. Top the schnapps with 190 and light it. Drop the shot glass into the tall glass and slam it back. They will fuck you up... But funny how much fun those flaming shooters are. *grins*

We often play a Russian Roulette with the shot book.... poor, battered, beat up shot book... We ruffle the pages, and then someone sticks a finger in the pages, and whatever we land on we try. We've spent some wonderful nights getting seriously inebriated on some fucked up shots. *grins*

appleseed 01-31-2005 01:26 PM

I have either a brandy manhattan or a glass of bourbon (Woodford, Knob, Booker's, etc) with 2 ice cubes every night.

I drink a lot of beer, because I brew professionally and get three cases a month for free and additional cases and kegs are dirt cheap. I also brew beer at home, so there is always plenty of beer available at my house.

I don't drink shots too often anymore, but when I do it's usually Black Haus, because that was my shot back in the old days when I tended bar.

Here's a shot I invented about 10 years ago, I poured a lot of them for girls' birthdays.

Trix Shot:
1 oz vodka
1 oz Yukon Jack
2 oz Cherry Pucker
Splash of Sour
Splash of Coke

Pour all into shaker with ice, shake and strain into shot glasses.

I swear this shot tastes exactly like Trix cereal.

loonatic8her 02-21-2005 06:36 AM

This is my favorite drink.

2 0z of Belvedere Vodka poured over cubed ice... shaken not stirred.... remove ice and....voila! the worlds best drink

I cant recommend this place strongly enough if you like beer. They have the most varieties of beer comercially available, Guiness Book Of Records said so.

Charlatan 02-21-2005 08:29 AM

My favourite mixed drink is: Gimlet

1 oz Gin
1 oz Lime Cordial

Shake with ice and pour.

(I prefer it with less cordial and more gin)

My current drink is Pastis... I have been working my way through a bottle of Pernod (I haven't found any other Pastises here so I will have to wait until my next trip to France in April to pick up some local stuff)

snowy 02-21-2005 12:01 PM

Wow...no post from me yet? Sheesh!

Bombay Sapphire martini, dry, with a twist. Mmm.

Charlatan 02-21-2005 12:34 PM

Bombay Sapphire is my everyday gin... Tanqueray 10 and Hendricks is for special occasions...

Hendricks Gin? That's a taste of heaven.

Hell, yah! Sapphire is pretty good, but Hendrick's puts it to shame. Cucumber gin, who would think it would taste so good! Very unique and worth the extra bucks. Perhaps my favorite gin is Citadelle. Smooooooth!

Aletheia 02-28-2005 04:51 PM

Coke and rum has been my drink of choice as of late.

Jeff 02-28-2005 07:30 PM

I'm getting drunk just reading this thread.

I've been drinking a lot of the cheapest vodka possible (Hawkeye Vodka - 12 bucks for a handle) and Sprite.

Budgets tight, I can't drink that Jack, SoCo, or Jaeger as often as I used too.

Hampshire 03-05-2005 09:36 PM

black tooth grin- crown with a splash of coke

pattycakes 03-26-2005 10:01 PM

me no drinky

dX927 03-28-2005 09:57 PM

I made this random concoction at a friend's party last year and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Let me see if I can remember all the ingredients. It was a complete Flaming Homer type moment.

Orange Hi-C
Vanilla Rum
Vodka
Sprite

It's sorta a Lemon-Lime Creamsicle I guess.

IanSturgill 04-12-2005 10:08 AM

WOW

Used to do a lot of "Hummers", way back...lake livin'.
Used to measure by the cup, so I don't know about smaller amounts.
Equal parts of:

rum
Kaluha
vodka
ice cream (vanilla)

careful...sneaks up...delicious...no drive.

Oh yeah...I think there was a blender involved somewhere in the process.

THGL 04-25-2005 08:52 AM

Is going through a liter of bourbon a week (+/- a few days) at little bit too much libation for one person?

One could say that you answered your own question, by the mere asking.

FunkyLamb 05-04-2005 01:14 PM

Look at it this way...

There are seventeen 1 1/2 ounce shots in a liter of booze. That's a little over 2 drinks for each of the 7 days of the week. 2 drinks a night isn't that bad.

chef001_2003 05-04-2005 09:39 PM

hmmm

jaeger
scotch
brandy/cognac "azteca de oro" is a favorite smooth as remy xo but more complex

Not really, however isnt it costly. :)

I myself isnt really a spirit drinker. I used to be but not anymore. Instead I like the brew. Tooheys Extra Dry, Hahn Ice, Crown Lager, Cascade, actually come to think of it, i like most beers, but VB and XXXX (four ex). I guess you could call me the typical aussie when it comes to beer drinking. Give me a beer bong anyday. :) )showed my brother up at his 21st. oops ! ) if I were to drink the spirit, it would have to be tequila shots, or the good ole baileys on ice.

Beer: Guinness Stout (Necter of the gods!)
Wine: Currently none
Mixed drink: KGB
1 shot Grand Marnier
2 shots Kalua
2 shots Bailys Irish Cream

Shaken over ice.

ColonelSpecial 05-15-2005 08:51 PM

Hardcore Shirley Temple:
Sprite
1-2 shot(s) of Vanilla Rum (or vodka)
splash of grenadine
cherries
*stir together over ice and enjoy; can also use Vanilla Coke instead of Sprite

I don't drink much beer but I am partial to New Belgium brews.

Then, 1.5 oz of Raspberry Vodka

enjoy.

I like Moosehead beer. Thats my favorite drink.

for hard liquor, tequila shots or Jack and orange soda. Its really good.

0energy0 06-19-2005 04:56 PM

Ok.

So other day i got wasted after alternating two different drinks each time i drank. First shot of bacardi, then a jager bomb. And i continue that pair 4 times. Being stupid, i forgot how jager bombs can really fuck you up.

gotta love jager bombs:
half a can of redbull
1.5 oz jagermeister

Drop the shot glass full of jager into the redbull and chug.
Repeat until satisfied.

spiderman 06-21-2005 11:17 AM

Drink I made up that everyone loved:
I make milkshakes all the time because they are really easy to make with a good blender. My typical milkshake recipe is roughly 2-3 scoops of ice cream into the blender - top off up to the 1 cup mark with milk (whole, skim, whatever). Then add whatever you want to mix in (thin mints (the girlscout cookies), oreos, etc.)

The drink I made up had vanilla ice cream, oreos, and then Bailey's instead of milk. Just about the best thing I've ever tasted. Probably has about 0 calories...

eMOTIONal20 06-21-2005 11:30 AM

 this is funny only because I'm a college student who doesn't exactly get to have all those wonderful mixed drinks yet...

put a corona in front of me and i'm good to go... or a forty. even better.

rum and coke is always good.

i also enjoy mike's hard lemonade and smirnoff.

Hmmm... at least I've gotten away from McCormick's. blech.

Sultana 06-30-2005 02:01 PM

OK, my favorite drinks are:
-Chocolate Martinis
-Cran & Grey Goose
-Irish Car bombs (if I remember correctly, a glass of stout with a shot of whiskey [Jameson? Cannot spell it!], drop a shot of Irish Cream into it and slug it down before it curdles! Sounds icky, but it's great--and I don't even drink beer!
-shots of Barenjaeger--it's a honey/vodka liquor, hard to find in my neck of the woods :( Great stuff, if you're into sweet drinks!

Hello from a Rookie, everyone!

Tophat665 06-30-2005 04:22 PM

Pepe Hitler (A pre-Godwined Shot)
1 oz Cheap Tequila
1 oz Jeagermeister.

The Jagermeister cuts the burn out of the tequila, and the tequila cuts the syrupiness out of the Jaeger, and together they don't taste any worse than they do apart.

Tophat665 06-30-2005 04:34 PM

OK, I want to put in a plug here:
Last weekend, I pulled a tap at the Old Dominion Brew Festival n Ashburn VA. For 5 hours Sunday, I was filling people's glasses with River Horse, Our Special Ale, and Trippel Horse. I have got to say that, of the probably hundred different pale ales I have had, Riverhorse Special is easily the best. It's incredibly smooth and exquisitely well balanced between malt and hops, and rounded out perfectly with just a whisper of oak. It's a fantastic beer. Trippel Horse is their Belgian Style trippel, and it stacks up against any of the Belgians. It's got a nice, sweet front end, and a refreshingly dry back end. Light bodied, and packed full of all those neat esters and phenols that a good Belgian yeast will give you. I could pick up vanilla, plum, granny smith apple, and maybe a hint of clove.

I highly recommend this brewery to any beer lover: River Horse

//plug

Also, made the perfect boilermaker the other day, with all due respect to the trappist boilermaker discussed earlier:
11 oz Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout
2 oz Makers Mark Bourbon

You guys figure out a name for it-

Sobe Adrenaline Rush 8 Oz can (grapefruity citrusy flavor)
1-1.5 shots of tequila

Easy to chug, great for staying up late...

I have yet to try a Red Bull but hear they aren't as good as the Rush.

half pint of guinness. drop (carefully) a shot glass layered with kaluha, baileys and irish whiskey... preferably jameson's. drink fast. it definately curdles. but ends up tasting like chocolate milk if you get the proportions right. my favorite ever.... besides a straight guinness or a Snakebite.

Sex with an Alligator, painful as it sounds, is my favorite martini ever. does anyone have a recipe? chambord on bottom, midori and something else in the middle (that's what i can't figure out) and jager floating on top. mmmm... the blue martini in deland, fl, also makes a killer Space Pussy and i have no idea what it is. but after two Scooby Snacks and a few Space Pussies, i found myself smoking a cigar and playing pool barefoot against a guy with no teeth. welcome to florida, y'all.

I'm rather fond of Irish Carbombs. Did 5 within a 10 minute span this last St. Patty's (I'm in a fraternity. Me likey drunkeness.)

My fraternity brother, however, decided to do a carbomb with everyone who had never done one, so he did about 16 carbombs that night.

I'm in love with Brass Monkeys - A 40 oz of OE, mixed with OJ. Sounds awful, but is actually quite tasty. The wonderful part of drinking 40's of anything is that it's more cost efficient if you're looking for a single night of drunkeness, rather than paying for cases of beer.

White Russians are nice as well.

Oh, also. Another fraternity created a concept drink we've never tried, but always laugh about. He named it "The Highschooler" - Beer mixed with Nyquil.

Mixed drinks: White Russian, Cape Cod, Chocolate Martinis... basically, vodka base, fruit juice, cream or chocolate added.

Beer: Partial to ale and lager, favorites include, Guiness, Skullsplitter, Holy Grail Ale and Harps.

Jagermiester chilled
Crown Royal on the rocks
Bicardi 151 and diet coke
Heiniken beer
Colt 45 (40 ounce)
Zombi (Chinese mixed drink)

made some good ones last night. i'm trying to use up my stock before i move, but i don't think i'm going to make it with my liver intact....

the best was my chocolate martini...started with 1 tsp cocoa powder in a sauce pan, 2 tbps sugar and 1/4 c water. boil for about a minute, remove from heat and mix in a splash of half and half. add to shaker with plenty of ice. add two shots each creme de cacao, bailey's, and vodka. makes 4 drinks.

not really going to do any serious damage, but you could play with the proportions. the main idea was to start with a really rich chocolate base, and then add from there. perhaps chilling the mix without ice would help concentrate it...

Wait, tequila burns? Thats the only hard liquor I can still drink straight besides jack. Tequila just tastes so good.

Flaming Dr. Peppers and Cherry Bombs are also good.

Here's one for everyone to try:
The Blood of Satan
1 shot Jaegermeister
1 shot Goldschlagger
1 shot Jack or other bourbon
1 shot Scotch

Stir to mix and pour over ice.

Anyone who likes a good beer, try any DogFish Head beer, if you're on the east coast and can get your hands on it.

I just read the book by the guy who founded it...amazing. Their prices are premium, but their beer is worth it. I just can't tell you much love and creativity goes into this stuff.

It's all I drink now, just about.
(It's also 7-9% alcohol content, 2-3 will have you off your ass)

I have got to admit they make some awesome beers. Their Midas Touch won a gold at in the Braggot category of the American Mead Competition this year. Their 1999 world wide stout was a staggering 18% abv and perfectly balanced (2000 they upped it to 23% and it tasted like drinking fire.)

Couple of months ago they had a recipe for a 90 minute IPA clone in Zymurgy. Throw all the hops together in a bowl and throw in 6 grams every 5 minutes. Looks interesting.

One of theirs that I would stay away from, though, is the 120 minute IPA. At 10 bucks a 12oz bottle, it's way pricy, and, frankly, it sucks. Tastes like hops flavored corn syrup. Blecch. (Now, I could have gotten a bad bottle, but for 10 bucks a pop, they had better all be good.)

For extreme beer, you should also check out Stone Brewing, the guys who make Arrogant Bastard Ale.

If you end up drinking it in one or two days of the week, then it might be considered a bit excessive by some. :)

Yeah, but only if you drink like a wuss.

Grey Goose in a chilled glass, with a few ice cubes = the end. :D

Other than that, I love me some Captain and Coke (especially Coke w/lime if I don't have fresh lime to put in it).

I've recently started trying some scotches as well. I had some Chivas Regal Royal Salute 21 year old stuff that was just AWESOME!!!! :) Not a big fan of the traditional Johnny Walker though. I've tried everything from Red to Blue, and it's just not my thing.
