Watched this show last night on Comedy Central. Thought it was hilarious even at 3 in the morning when I couldn't sleep. This woman will say anything, and though often crude, you can't help but laugh because so much of the stuff is things average people say on a daily basis. At least give it a look.

Hmmm, the state of comedy is rather sad these days. "Comics" like Sarah Silverman are rather tired and weak compared with better comics. She is highly unoriginal, unfunny, and flat out bad.

But in the end it really comes down to personal choice. *shrug*

What other comics do you like?

She got a write up in Time magazine recently, and it was reported that she appealed more to men. Guess not, huh? :)

I like her. Jorgelito's right...she's not all that original, and she's certainly crude, but it's all in the delivery. And, let's face it, the fact that an attractive person is making such crude remarks adds to the absurdity as well. Not saying it's fair, but it's just reality.

There are more original comics out there, with more intelligent shticks, but we can all benefit from a little crude humor from time to time :) Everything in moderation I say.

Which is actually why I'm not so sure about The Sarah Silverman Show. Watching her comedy once a week is probably just on the edge of oversaturation for me.

She's cool...beautiful girl too, in an ethnic way.
As for her humor...not bad, funnier than Garafalo.

I'm not sure you can compare. Garafalo is, in some ways, an older generation. She does observational stuff, and personal stuff. Silverman is totally post-modern and surrealist. And while she's not the first to do that, she takes it to extremes that few have pushed before. All while being:

a) a woman, and
2) hot.

I think she bring something entirely new to the table.

Ewwwww....hot?? Wow, I totally missed that as I find her to be totally ug. Ethnic? She is pretty pasty and waspy (yeah, yeah I know she is a Jew but looks). In fact, most comedians tend to be ug.

Roseanne Barr already went down the path of "Ooh look at me I'm so edgy cause I'm crass and crude". So Sarah Silverman = meh *shrug*

Which actually leads to another interesting aspect or subtext of this thread: Comparing and discussing all the female comediennes.

All I can say is her character in Crank Yankers (a show that used to be on Comedy Central) made me bust a guy laughing.

That made me laugh outloud. So far nothing from her new program has really got me laughing.

I really don't find her that attractive. I just thought it was funny and interesting to see some people cracking the kind of jokes on each other that average people do all of the time. I don't really go to sketch comedy for its intellectual bend, just to laugh.

I can't say I love the show but I have enjoyed her style of comedy. I will continue to watch her show, cause her jokes are well funny. My favorite was watching her at the Pamela Anderson roast.

I find her extremely hot... I'd convert... then kick the shit out of Jimmy Kimmel

I sort of liked the show, it was ok for a new comedy. I really would like to see this weeks episode though, just because it has Zach Galifianakis in it and he is one of my favorite comedians. Anyone else out there like him?

While I do find Galifianakis' standup hilarious, and his parts in Out Cold and Bubble Boy, after watching some of the things he does in Comedians of Comedy, he also kinda scares me a little.

Silverman's comedy is just to childish for me (which is saying alot), and her show is just another in a long string of crap (Naked Trucker, Mind of Mencia, Too Late, etc..) Comedy Central is scrambling to produce to replace Chappelle's Show.

Another hilarious comedian, also on the Comedians of Comedy Tour, is Patton Oswalt. Why the hell doesn't he have a show, instead of playing lame characters and bit parts in movies? Ive never laughed so hard in my life then when he described being one of the idiots on COPS as worse then being ass raped by an 8 dicked walrus. Classic.

Galifianakis' "Ben Franklin" bit on Comedians of Comedy was quite simply brilliant. He shows the same kind of genius that used to ooze out of Robin Williams and Pryor.

I caught her show last night. I wasn't all that impressed. There were a few funny moments, but that was about it.

She does have nice teeth, though.

I have not caught the show, but I personally like Silverman. And yes, I think she's hot. I think her two lines in The Aristocrats made that entire pile of a movie worth watching.

Since I can't stand TV, I doubt I'll ever see her show, but I also enjoy Patton Oswalt's comedy.

That's one of my favorite bits of his. He is phenomenal in my opinion.

Definitely not a fan. Just as unfunny as 95% of the comedians on TV.

I don't find her show funny at all, though I do find her attractive. Comedy Central is just trying to fill the huge void that Chappelle's Show left. The only shows I watch on Comedy Central are Scrubs, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report.

I've been a fan of hers since I was 12... I love any humor that has an underlying point to it.

I think Mind of Mencia is almost as good as Chappelle Show. The "Wetback Mountain" skit was frigging bust a gut funny.

Man, I tried watching the show, but there was a joke about "full-frontal jewdity" that was so fucking dumb that I just changed channels.

i haven't seen her CC show, but her Showtime stand up was very funny

It's an improvement over Naked Trucker, Blue Collar Comedy, and Mind of Mencia. But that's not saying very much at all. It's mediocre.

I'll try one or two more episodes, but I doubt I'll be watching for much longer.

At least it's better than Ned Mencia...

What on TV isn't mediocre?

Heroes, House, The Colbert Report. Only one of those is a comedy, sadly.

Colbert Report can be mediocre sometimes.

I'll add Scrubs, the Daily Show (which I'm starting to prefer over Colbert Report again - better consistency), Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, Monk, Psych, Conan's late night show, My Name is Earl, and Assy McGee.

(yeah, you heard me right.)

While it can have it's low points, I just cant get enough of him. The Daily Show is kind of losing it for me since he would make that annoying little Bush laugh/impersonation every episode. It's getting better though.

How could I forget Conan. I used to love scrubs too but I haven't seen it in forever. And you have to love the 23 hours a day that USA and TBS play Law & Order. haha.
