Flaming Heart
This was just something I worked on while I was taking some time off from work after getting my wisdom teeth removed. Not a horribly complex piece, but I was mainly trying to get a grasp on a new technique for drawing flames without using black shading, or any hard outlines. It's a technique I've seen used in a few different tattoos to really make the flames pop, so I figured it'd be worth taking the time to learn.

...long and noble tradition of flame-work.
I like these. I'd love to see a whole gallery of flame images. (does a Google Image Search) :) |
Thanks, ART! Flames are a big part of my art, since they're a major image in the music I'm influenced by, the tattoo culture I seek to make my living in, and the hotrod culture in which I like to spend my extra cash.

as am I..........keep up the great work man....... *anticipates more* |
Thanks animosity and flyman!
I'll hopefully have a few new pieces by tomorrow night. I'm currently working on some Williams/Crumb inspired pieces which look semi-promising, a couple of really out-there tattoo designs, and a t-shirt design for my best friends platoon (they're in training right now, and he called to ask if I could send a design for them). I'll post all of those up here as soon as I can get 'em wrapped up. |

no prob...........like i said before........love your work. keep 'em comin'. |
is that colored pencils?
looks like a heart shaped face with flames for hair. looks cute. what do i know? i know squat about tatooing. is a gradient effect fairly easy to do on skin? |
bernadette: Yeah, it's colored pencils with micron pens for the outlines.
I hadn't seen the face before, but it's interesting to see what other people can find in my art! Um, as for the ease of doing a gradient on skin, I have no clue. I'm not yet trained to tattoo, but I would imagine that once you've been apprenticed, it's not too terribly hard. |
That's awesome man I'd be honoured to have that permanently etched into my skin.
|
Thanks, ickma. I don't know if I've said it before, but any of my images (unless otherwise stated) are fairgame for anyone that wants one tattooed. My only request is that I get a picture of the finished product, since I've never gotten to see one of my images actually "in the flesh".
