Need Help Quick!!!
This project is due this coming week-instructor loves it BUT-says the monitor is flat-needs some 'punch'-tried different things in PS7 and just not happy-but then, altering a real painting there isn't exact as it loses some of the original technique. PLEASE, offer suggestions- I am open to anything at this point!!! (done in acrylics on canvas, if that helps.)

I know that whenever I'm supposed to make something pop off the canvas/page/tree/whatever, I tend to darken the background (which you appear to have done in the second picture) and add the TINIEST bit of white.
Of course, my work is also very tattoo/cartoon style, so what I do may not be appropriate for other genres. Regardless, your piece is very nice!

Thank you both for your suggestions-i ended up taking the 'screen' blue, painting squares with it and surrounding it with different colors. Then, using the same blue, i surrounded the monitor ever so slightly-kinda scribbled it in-as per the instructor's suggestion and this is what i came up with: Hope it's worth an A! (posting it does lose a little of the detail-hope it's not too amateurish looking!)

Thanks!! yea, i kinda did what you said, only using the lighter blue instead of white...i love painting although doing specific assignments kinda makes me nervous. This is supposed to be what the cover of our autobiography might look like-so right off, I knew it'd be me, trapped inside the machine, looking to get out...deep, huh?
