Birth Control and Antidepressents?
I currently take 10mg of Prozac daily for anxiety, and occasionally Xanax for panic attacks. I'm having an extremely hard time finding a birth control that won't interfere with my medication. My doctor recommends using the Today Sponge. I don't trust it. Has anyone else been in this situation? Any success stories or recommendations for me? Thanks!

Not sure if this will be any help. But a couple of years ago, my doctor put me on Bupropion (a substitute for wellbutrin) for anxiety.. and the pill (ortho tricyclen) for female problems and such.
I haven't had any problems with it, so far. But to be honest, I never gave much thought on whether one med would interfere with the other.

I am on Bupropion, like DiGiRed, as well as Lexapro for anxiety and Yasmine for oral birthcontrol. I've been on them all for 2 years now and haven't had any complications...or "scares" for that matter.

I was on citalopram (another SSRI) for many years, and went through a few methods: Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Depo-Provera, and the NuvaRing. I never had any problems with interactions.
EDIT: I should add that I am a sponge baby; I was conceived while my mom was using the Today sponge as her primary birth control method.

This one is supposed to be more effective than the pill because of the light dose of hormones it also releases. Anything is possible, though. If it happens, it happens. We're married with 3 kids ages 2-17. We have room for another (and originally wanted 4 kids), I just wanted to stop having kids before age 40. It's alot harder on the body as you get older. A staircase while pg at age 25 was a bit tiring. At age 39 I had to stop 3 times on my way up the stairs each time.
BTW antibiotics can interfere with bc pills, also. They warned me of that when I took them for strep throat.
