Lost original iPod software... Help.
I searched the threads for an answer to this, but couldn't find one.
I have lost the software that came with my iPod and I have a new laptop. Where can I find the original iPod software, not iTunes. I've been searching apple's site, but find only iTunes. Ayudame! |
http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ <- Ipod updater is what you are looking for.

Thanks. I am an idiot, but now a happy idiot.
I can always count on TFP to save me from myself. Maybe I'll send Hal another $5. |
OK. here's an IPod question for you. Can you up load your list on your IPod to a diffrent computer? With an diffrent ITunes playlist.
|
ICER, can you rephrase that question? Are you trying to use one iPod with two instances of iTunes, or use the iPod as a remote drive with iTunes, or what?
|
The remote drive I figured out, So It would be two instances of iTunes
|
Still trying... you would have set A of music on Computer 1, and the iPod would also have set A of music. So, when you are on Computer 2, which has set B of music, you want to access set A of music by reading off of the iPod drive? Or do you want Computer 1 and Computer 2 to both have set A of music? Or do you want the iPod to contain a union of sets A and B?
|
That almost sounds like "who's on first?". Made me chuckle.

But back to the question. let's say my computer crashes and I lose all the songs on my itunes, How would I get my Ipod to load from it to the computer instead of the other way around |
Yeah, I was wondering about that too. You can open the iPod as a drive in windows and the mp3 files are all broken up randomly into little folders that it is very tedious to take them out of. Using iTunes to do it? I have no idea.
|
I would also like to know the answer to the above question (about restoring iPod mp3s and such).
I will, as well, ad another question to this thread, since I was going to start a new one anyway. Why doesn't my iPod pull all of the songs from my iTunes music library? There are almost 100 songs in my library that just will not update to my iPod. Has anyone else ever had this problem? |

It is also possible that the song files are in an odd format that iTunes can read, but the iPod can't. I think .mp2 is an example. In those cases, you would need to reencode to a regular format before syncing. |
Turns out I had quite a few duplicate songs and my library was showing them while not updating them to my iPod. I guess that was a feature of some sort. Anyway, it's worked out now, thank you Redlemon.
