Washington Redskins Predict Election Outcome
Did you know?
The outcome of Washington Redskins home football games has correctly predicted the winner of every U.S. presidential election since 1936. LINK The Washington Redskins have proved to be a time-tested election predictor. In the previous 15 elections, if the Washington Redskins have lost their last home game prior to the election, the incumbent party has lost the White House. When they have won, the incumbent has stayed in power. This election year, that deciding game takes place on Sunday, October 31 ... vs. Green Bay. I don't know much about NFL, but i will be going for the Green Bay Packers! :D |
I follow the NFL pretty closely, and this one's a tossup. Green Bay is favored by 2 in the odds that I just looked at, so who knows. Personally, I think Washington has a better chance, especially at home. What a strange outcome predictor...I bet lots more people will be watching it.
It's already been posted, but I will once again say: GO GREENBAY!

People will find patterns in any chaotic series of events. Just because one can be found doesn't mean its significant (or accurate)
D.C. is so liberal too, they'll be on the edge of their seats for this one...
edit: I spelled "seat" wrong |
I have a feeling the trend will continue...Sorry George but Washington sucks this year(I'm a fan) and I've got a feeling Bush was going to lose any way. So while it doesn't have anything to do with the election the streak likely will continue.

The Pack is up 17-0....Bush is really getting worried now.
Greenbay is kicking Washintons ass as I write this....20-14 not a total ass beating but ........God help us if they don't win Kerry won't
Oh, shit, the Packers won.
I mean, Yay! the Packers won! |
28-14 final, Redskins lose, and hopefully so will Bush. Last I knew, he was still leading in the polls though.
The polls tend to lean slightly Republican, in my opinion. With the Dem's registering more voters, it'll be really close, but that's for the politics board. I'm just amazed that this game didn't go into overtime...
To paraphrase John Kerry, "were it only true," however, when this harbinger was adopted, it pertained to the last home game before an election. Most people don't realize that the home games are now played in Maryland. The last home game that was actually played in Washington, DC, was on Dec 22, 1996---when the Redskins beat the Cowboys. Anyway, it seems if this were to hold true, then Al Gore would have served as POTUS.
I know, I know, splitting hairs, but nevertheless... |

I am a huge Green Bay fan, but because of this fact I actually wanted them to lose. I'll just leave the rest of my comments for the polictics board.
how bout this idea....since the Red Sox broke their curse this year none of the "prediciton" things work anymore :)
Two words. GO GREENBAY!
I knew my Packers would come through :D

see I was right.....the red sox win made the streak go away lol
so much for time-tested predictors :D
Not so much... anymore. Like any streak eventually they come to an end.
Oh well. Random coincedental things that are brought up after 70 years failed. Big deal.
