thanks grump...............i can't stop buying different stuff. needless to say.....the wife doesn't get it. but the kids think it's all cool.:D |
I've been playing guitar for, hmmm....9-10 years now. Mandolin for 4. I took piano lessons for a couple of years. Done some tinkering on the harmonica, accordion, banjo, dobro, spoons!, fiddle, drums, bass (upright and electric). Pretty much all self taught - but my gramps can play any of those (except the fiddle) with his eyes closed.
Me mum also has been fond of saying that I sang before I talked - spent a lot of time in choirs and choir camps. (GO AOSFYC!) ahhh...good times. |
been singing since before i can remember, played trombone from 4th-6th grade, but have forgotten it now. took up guitar in august and i'm loving it, i play every day (am teaching myself).

I started piano lessons in 3rd grade. Guitar lessons in 6th. I still play both.
I was first trumpet all through middle and high school--I LOVE the fat sound of a big trumpet played full out. The first time I heard myself make that sound was a beautiful, beautiful day. My senior year, I moved aside to let somebody new take my seat, and I played Brass Baritone, which is a fun horn. Almost a tuba. Very oompa-oompa-y. I fronted a garage band in high school, singing and playing guitar. We did about half covers and half originals. In the process of fooling around with my guys I played drums, bass, keys... These days I mostly play guitar and piano. I haven't touched a horn in a lot of years. |
I started on the violin at age 8 or 9. Did that for a couple of years, but it never sounded any good I thought. Imo you have to be very good just to make a violin sound good. Played the piano from 13-16. That was fun, but as soon as I moved out I couldn't afford a piano of course :( Still play it when I come accross one, but I only play from memory. Can't really read notes anymore.

I've only learned one instrument my whole life- trombone. I play jazz in college. It's great- I just wish I was better at improv, and I can't take any classes on it because I need sooo many other classes to graduate in 4 years. I've also been told I'm a pretty good singer.
