Ever been in a fight?
I'm interested in people's experiences regarding fights and such. I've never been in a fight (I DON'T consider a brawl with one's sibling a fight), but it seems almost everyone else has. And by a fight I mean literally...punches thrown, etc.
Just curious. |
if sibling fights dont count, then no.
|
I suppose they could, if they got bloody. My brother and I used to get on each other's nerves quite a bit, and ended up wrestling now and then, but it never got to the point where someone would lose a tooth or get a broken nose.
|
Interesting poll...everybody's been in more than 1 fight and no fights at all. Not a single people fought just once.
I used to fight all the time in school...win some lose some. Either way, you can never win unless you were mike tyson in grade 7... |
i fought once, and lost. I'm not going to let that happen again.
|
once...it wasnt fun....i've been chicken $hit ever since
|
Quite a few. I've never lost a non-sibling fight.
|
No, but I managed to get an entire crowd to boo me and jeer me for an entire soccer game once. I thought I was going to get in a fight, but apparently it wasn't worth the red card for him.
|
been in a handful of fights... very spaced out... most people are either intimidated of me or think of me as a wimp.. there isn't much middle ground..
every fight has had no real reprecussions as far as any sort of authority figures... They either clear up, and we just go our seperate ways and cool off, or the other person refuses to get near me.. the last one i had was a while ago.. senior year in highschool.. I was restraining a guy from getting at someone else.. He swung at me and connected with my jaw.. Suffice to say, it irritated me.. he ran.. gave chase... he ripped my shirt... then he went into a room with a teacher and sat there... and sat there... he would immediatley leave the room whenever i entered it and didn't come to that classroom again the rest of the year (about 2.5 weeks)... not my proudest moment, but I am not particularly fond of getting punched... |
I've lost every sibling fight to date vs. my brothers. I'm the youngest of 6, so I got it pretty good. "Hey look at this bat I made in shop class, bend over" or "Hey come here, I'm going to hit you with this rubber hose until you give me the remote." and "Hey, eat this worm or I'll hurt you." which I did, and then got punched in the arm anyways.
I used to get shot a bunch with BB guns and kicked from dirt bikes as well, but I at least tried to give as good as I got. I remember once when I pushed a bail of hay onto my brother Michaels head, they're fairly heavy objects to be pushing on someones head so needless to say he wasn't happy. It was the most hilarious vicious beating I've ever recieved. You'd think we were a bunch of dysfunctional rednecks, but it was all in good fun, we're very close in reality. I've also had more than one fight against other people during school and walking around my neighborhood and such. I used to fight a lot with my friends too, just for fun though. |
I've been in several fights, though none for a few years now. In each I never thrown the first punch and always threw the last. I've had a lucky go at things.
|
Just once. I was a stupid, jealous ex-boyfriend ;) At least I pummeled him
Well, I guess you could say twice as after I left him he arrived at my house later that day with a few of his friends. Again, only one-on-one, and, again, I pummeled him :p I don't really care for fighting - in fact I stopped halfway through the first time and apologized for letting my emotions get the best of me and then when he decided to come back for me I tried to talk him out of it. Still, he just HAD to come at me when I had my back turned. Luckily, I saw him out of the corner of my eye and let him have it before he could get to me :) Not proud of it, but I'm still glad it was him going to school the next day with a bruise on his face and not me ;) |
I wouldn't call a shoving match a fight. So, nope never been in a fight. I was kinda protected by all the jocks who I helped with school work all through school. I dont ever expect to get in a fight past that now, seeing as I always look like I'm carrying a sawed off 12 guage under my leather jacket. If someone does come after me, I am good at arm's length. Any closer than that and I'm meat.
|
Yeah I've been in several, though not a proper fight for about 3-4 years now. Probably because I broke the nose of one guy, and messed up the kidneys of another (whether or not that was caused by our fight I don't know, hehe we're ok mates now too).
Though I guess I was more bad tempered back then, I'm a lot more calm now and try to avoid violent confrontations. |
If elementary school and domestic violence doesn't count, no.
|
Yes, many.
I was in one Monday after work for the first time in a long time. |
Yupp once.. the police came and stoped it before it got too serious though (it was outside a bar). none of us got arrested luckily so there wasn't much to it, we banged eachother pretty badly.. A couple of weeks later we met (sober this time) and talked it over. He's one of my better friends nowdays..
|
I've been on both sides, ala the winner and loser of several. Thank god those days are over, too many black eyes to explain.
|
I kinda beat up this kid my age and size at school when I was 17. Me and another kid were fucking with him wrestling around and he moved quickly and I twisted his wrist. He yelled to let go and I did since we were just fucking around and he hauls off a kick right to my groin. Incrediibly he misses all my junk, and I turn around to walk away before it escalated. Something else within me thought differently, and before I realized it I had spun around and was on him. They said I punched him 4 times and I only really remembered the last one. It was like I moved faster than I could see; It was weird. I gave him a black eye and broke his glasses and a necklace he wore :o.
I haven't hit anyone since then, and don't like fights, but I would have no qualms about fighting if a loved one was in danger. Of course the best way to protect your loved one is to stay out of those situations in the first place. Haven't been in a fight in 14 years so I guess I'm doing ok. |
Won some lost some until I got my ass kicked in jr high and was determined not to have that happen again. Havent lost a fight since.
Just took two guys that tried to jump me last night. Who says martial arts dont apply in the real world. Details in my journal. |
Not since grade school - unless you call breaking up a mugging a fight.
|
i've been beat........and i've done some beating.
those days are over though. just waitin' for my kids to experience the bullies now. |
I've only been in one real fight, and that was back in bootcamp. It was the day of graduation actually. I was squad leader and one of the recruits was going for one of the guys in my squad. I threw him down, he got back up and tried to choke me out. The drill instructors broke it up before it got too far.
|
I've given out a few good thrashings to some poor fools. I've been knocked around a bit, but never hospitilized. Most of the fights were at bars...dumb ass drunk people talkin' smack to me or one of my friends. City boys shouldn't mess with guys from the country. I know it goes either way, but the mentality is that country boys are backwoods hicks. It's not right...which they eventually come to find out. I don't prefer to fight, but I will stand my ground.
|
i got jumped once, and still dont know why. i was walking down the street with my friend and this truck drive by with some jackass hanging out the window yelling something. we shrug it off and keep on walking, until the truck screeches to a halt and the kid from the window comes sprinting down the street at us. i thought my buddy knew him and he thought that i knew him. either way he ended up punching me once and then giving me a good kick to the ribs. i know that i should have fought back more...but i guess i was just so confused. i wish i would meet him on the streets now though....
|
i havenīt fight since 6th grade, i have managed to take care of business in a more peacefull way eversince, however, iīm totally convinced that there are times when no other choice is left for you but to kick some ass
|
Never fought seriously. Just alot of friendly fights, and usually I use cowardish wrist-braking techniques :). Works very well, as long as the opponent isn't too serious into the "fight'.
If things are looking scary, it might be a tip to explain to your opponent that you usually go for the balls. That you usually get beaten up, but at least you'll get take a testicle down with ya ;). That will keep them of your back :) It takes a lot for me to get provoked, and I hope I'll never have to fight someone. I know that I might loose control if I get into a too serious a fight. As a kid I was easily enraged and little would calm me down ... |
countless numbers.
rather than inflame you with the ethnocentric details here in these unsullied pages, I'll refer you to my journal: - entry number: 341 - title: "Got any ID? part one " http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/journal...10&action=view |
I have been in a few bar brawls, been in a few one-on-one fights. Been hit hard on several occasions, hit a few of them pretty hard myself. I am not like that any more, but I will surely stand up for myself and family should the need arise.
|
Been a long time since I fought but Idid several times as younger guy. My right ear can only hear base after being knocked down and kicked in the head one halloween. For the most part I didnt have any choice any fight I have ever been in. I am looking forward to fight free rest of my life and hoping my son never has to fight.
|
I have been in 2 fights. One I started, the second I got my ass kicked.
Fight 1: A kid was picking on my brother, beat the living shit out of him. Fight 2: I was jumped by 12 skin heads. That one hurt. |
When I was a kid, yeah, a couple times. Most of those were with my best friends.
When you hang out with someone alot, especially when you're a kid, you tend to get sick of them and just look for ways to argue with them. Which tends to turn into fighting when you're fourteen. There are plenty of times now where someone is just a jerk and I usually go over in my mind the different ways I could pummel (I boxed for awhile in high school so I would think I'd have the upper hand in many fights) but I never do. Which is good. Fighting in general is stupid. Why waste your time and energy on someone who's an asshole (unless you're defending yourself or someone else). And throwing puches is the last thing you should do when you're angry and not thinking clearly. One of my best friends when I was younger (he went to West Piont and is currently still in the army so I haven't seen him in awhile) had his father's house burgalurized. Through some friends he found out who did it (fellow highschoolers, who lived in the area, being idiots). When he saw one of the kids at a party, he went up to him, said "What's up", said he knew what the kid had done, then proceded to beat the living shit out of this guy. Sending the guy to the hospital for acouple days. The rest of the partygoers took the guys car and fucked with it for the rest of the night. So did the guy get what he deserved for robbing my friends dad's house? I mean there's a chance he could have been killed with the beating my friend gave him. And all for a moment of stupidity. And that's how most fights start. Because of a moment of stupidity. |
2 real ones, though one was barely a fight. One I was nearly arrested for, as somebody felt the need to spit on my girlfriends back at the movie theaters because she asked them politely to be quite and stop kicking her chair. Being a pretty ill-tempered person (and admittedly quite dangerous when I get an adrenaline rush, though something I'm not proud of), I ran out to the parking lot after the movie (when she told me there was spit there), pulled the kid out of his car through the driver side window, pinned him to the ground, and just beat on his face until the employees came and pulled me off of him.
Not at all proud of it, but it was just something that set me off. The other time I slammed a fella into a wall in the grocery store, then pinned him to the ground until the police arrived, as he was repeatedly striking his son (a child, no more than 6-8 years old?) in the face. |

3 fights. First one was me hitting him, him hitting back, somebody yelled about the cops, and so we broke it up. We were close before, been closer since.
Second was so damn justified, and he was two years older and made me feel nervous as hell any time I'd see him untill I actually grew past puberty. Everybody always said that between me and him, money's on him. I started it, I threw the first punch, I won, and it's a fantastic story to this day. Third sucked. Some guy pissed off that me and my friends were making kinda a mess outside some shop and started cussing us out. I talk back, one word leads to another. Fight lasted three to five minutes, which 275 lbs of me can't keep up. I did great untill he had me pinned to the ground. He started it, he threw the first punch, he won. |
yes, and boy did the rumor spread fast!
|
Only once, a few years ago. It was a 2 on 2 that turned into a 3 on 2 when some guy came out of nowhere and hit my buddy in the head with a beer bottle. We were doing pretty well up until that point. We both made it home in one peice though.

Now everyone is calling me "bully" at work. I just say: No, I'm just not a pussy like the rest of you. |

I've been in a few fights, most were in the 4th grade. I had an early growth spurt so I was a full head taller than everyone, thus everyone watned to say they beat up the big guy. Never lost a fight because I had taken Judo, but it definately got old. None were very serious and nothing more than a broken nose I ever gave anyone.
The only serious fight happened my junior year of HS. A female friend of mine was dating this dick, he was constantly accusing her of cheating on him (something she'd NEVER do, she was still a virgin). He would always make her cry during lunch because he'd yell at her infront of everyone. Now I'm a very easy going guy so this isn't what started it. I was walking home after football practice when I saw him yelling at her again, they were about 200 yards away, when I saw him reach back and hit her. Litterally the next thing I knew I was ontop of him beating the crap out of him. Apparently I had broken his wrist, dislocated his left arm, broke 3 ribs, knocked out a tooth, broke his nose in 3 places, and gave him a concussion. Luckily I was let off because it fell under self-defense because he hit her first. I have never been in a fight since, and never previously imagined I could be so dangerous.... TBH I'm now scared to get in a fight after that because I'm scared what might happen, because I am much stronger now than I was back then. |
