I had a meaningful topic for discussion......

But instead I decided to troll Plan9 with a pic of my hobby room. Cover your screen so when your head explodes it doesn't get all over your monitor.

Can you find the cat?

Redlemon 11-05-2010 05:02 PM

No, I can't find the cat. I hope he didn't get into those medicine bottles on the floor.

ring 11-05-2010 05:04 PM

Is that his ear just visible on the handle opening of the box that has fish tank written on it?
There is a cat logo on the box next to that one.

kramus 11-05-2010 05:26 PM

Reminds me of my shed/workshop/summer studio. Also known as the place where everything gets dumped.

mixedmedia 11-05-2010 05:52 PM

and what is your hobby, exactly?

Fotzlid 11-05-2010 06:04 PM

..hoarding from the looks of it...

Cat_Eyes 11-05-2010 06:07 PM

You know, I'm gonna sit here looking for a cat... I sure hope there is one.

Starkizzer 11-05-2010 06:09 PM

I should take a picture of the inside of my dad's wood working shed the next time I'm visiting. I call it his death trap. He swears it is not that bad and then asks me to go find stuff in it all the time.

I offer to help him clean it up, but he never takes me up on it. Maybe I will just go do it when hes not home one day...

Oh, and I don't see a cat. I hope to this is because there really isn't a cat in there. :(

Cat_Eyes 11-05-2010 06:57 PM

The cat's eyes peeking through the box handle holes near the middle of the picture... yes, I see them now!

Damn, nailed it right off. There is a Black cat (Enzo) in there somewhere too, but I have no idea where.

They're empty and sealed, no worries.

That's just mean, but I guess since my SO LaLa agreed with you down below, it must be partially true.

There really is a Black cat in their too, but I was talking about the cat on the box that Ring found right away. As for Enzo, I haven't seen him in a couple of hours, so if you spot him, let me know.

Haha! To be fair, some of that stuff "was" in my craft/work out room and we cleaned it out and dumped it all in his room so I could have a nice clean space :)

So while yes, his craft room is a pit right now it will also be cleaned up soon.

You better get those kitties out of there though before you shut that door or Mya will be waking you up in the middle of the night throwing stuff around it there to get your attention!

Hope you won't be moving any time soon. ^.^

Ourcrazymodern? 11-05-2010 09:33 PM

That looks so much like my former house...cats find you when they need service.

MSD 11-06-2010 08:44 PM

Almost as bad as my bedroom. I have stuff stacked high enough in the corner that if someone asks me about something in the closet, I have plausible deniability on my side when I claim that there is no closet.

I personally hang on to a few of them (usually no more then 2 empties at any time) because they work great for storing random screws and small parts from the computers I work on.

However that room is no longer a 'hobby room', it has degenerated into a 'let's just toss this crap in here' room. I'm with plan9 *head explodes*

My garage looked sort of like that. Now I have a perfectly clean and nearly empty garage with all the junk piled up in my yard. I figure it might make me more embarrassed for the neighbors to know what a slob I am so I'll eventually dump the junk. Since the stuff has been out there I've already had two offers to take some items I have no interest in...though for some reason I couldn't just throw them away since they are still "good".

Like IceBurn said, they're great for keeping track of small parts. I'm currently in the planning stages of building an actual shop and pricing has shown just how ridiculous the cost of storage bins really is for all the 'stuff' I have. I do a lot of Demo work and have a hard time just trashing things that are perfectly good, just not to the taste of the current owner.

They're also great for mixing small amounts of paints, using as solvent baths to clean dirty, greasy or painted parts. Filled with Chalk and water, they make awesome exploding targets. Really the uses are endless. Eventually, most of them will have the lids screwed to the bottom of a shelf so that the bottles can be easily unscrewed from the lids for parts access. While not taking up bench space.

You don't even want to know how many Coffee cans and Costco milk jugs are in that room. They, as well, have endless uses.

We have bi-annual community pick ups in my city. It never ceases to amaze me what people will pick up out of these obvious junk piles and haul off for whatever use. I think my favorite thing was when a neighbor put out a toilet that had somehow gotten a sledge hammer put through the bowl. It didn't last out on the curb for five minutes before someone came along and hauled it off. :shakehead:

Someone obviously got molested by Woodsie Owl when they were a kid.

RogueGypsy 11-08-2010 02:02 PM

I give a Hoot.

EventHorizon 11-08-2010 03:06 PM

Rogue, did you ask people were the cat was because it was a hard question or because you lost it and were looking for it as well?

RogueGypsy 11-08-2010 05:35 PM

Aside from trolling Plan9, It looked like a fun 'find the hidden object' game.

As far as the cat goes. He's a crafty little Devil.

I've had to hire a tree climber 3 times to get that stupid cat out of Fir trees. He's a damn good climber, just not so good at the coming down part. It would have been a relief to loose him in that room, but no, he wasn't lost. In 40 years of having cats, I've never had one get lost in my house.

To their credit, cats are amazingly creative and determined animals. When I was a kid, we moved from Calif. to Utah. The first night we stayed at my uncles house because our furniture hadn't arrived yet. His house was about a mile away through a housing development and a couple of open fields. Our cat got out that night and didn't come back. Three days later he showed up at the door of our new house. A place he'd never been. Figure that one out.

So no, I don't worry about the cat getting lost.
