In like a lion......

Yesterday morning we awoke to tornado sirens. An F2 touched down not far from us destroying a church and severely damaging several homes. This morning we awoke to falling snow. I know how some of you hate it, but here where we see snow so seldom ( this was our first snowfall of the season, last season and the season before, etc.) it was quite beautiful. It has been snowing all day, and the influx of snow people into our area has become quite abundant. It's been a wild weekend. So how has March greeted you in your neck of the woods?

Sunny and near 90.

That's not good news when it costs $15/day to cool a house in the summer. I wish it was overcast and in the 50s.
Still . . . . . better than an F2.

Grancey, where are you located?

Here in the Philadelphia PA area they are predicting about 8 inches tonight and a few more inches tomorrow. The kids are glad since we've hardly had any snow this year...probably only an inch or so until now. Tornadoes I can do without.

Today is very peaceful and very sunny outside, but a little chilly for E. Texas. (51°F)

You envious yet?

Sunny and in the 70s. Beautiful weather here in San Diego.

We'll probably have 1-4 inches by morning. Our first real substantial sticking snow of the year.

rat... before I scrolled down to see the entire pic you posted, for a minute I thought it was one from outerspace. :D

On the weather topic, we're supposed to be in the low 70's tomorrow through weds., and while I like it a lot, I have yet to see a shit ton of snow here. I'm disappointed.

It rained all damn day. This was actually one of the driest winters on record, but it's been attempting to catch up over the last week. We had a bit of a break yesterday before the next system moved in. Looks like this one will be gone by Thursday.

Certainly we've had nothing like that, Grancey. Despite a snowstorm in December that threw everyone out of sorts, we seem to have escaped winter relatively unscathed. No wild and woolly windstorms to speak of. Kinda disappointing, actually. I love a good, rollicking storm that makes the power go out.

Definitely in like a lion here in NY. We are expecting 10-14 inches of snow and schools have already announced they are closed for tomorrow. Woo hoo! We get to sleep in!

ShaniFaye 03-02-2009 02:20 AM

The metro Atlanta area got 2-6" of snow, depending on where you were..we got about 3-4", after 2 days of torrential rains. Now its all ice and I cant get out of my driveway

ratbastid 03-02-2009 05:39 AM

Wow, though, Shan--your front yard would be GREAT for sledding!!

We ended up with 2 or 3 inches out there. That's a WHOLE lot of snow for this town. They've got both the snowplows out working, but it'll be a while before people get up the gumption to leave their houses.

Destrox 03-02-2009 07:00 AM

Almost hit 90 a few times in the last week.

Sunny, warm, windows down - sandal wearing - pool chillin goodness.

Next week I am going back east for a week... I am going to freeze.

Baraka_Guru 03-02-2009 07:05 AM

Cold snap and a bit too windy, considering.

Feels like -24 C (-11 F) today. It's been sunny though. So this means it's much colder at night.

Anxst 03-02-2009 08:01 AM

Pretty average, here. Mid 20's, low 30's. It's sunny today, not too bad outside.

PonyPotato 03-02-2009 08:16 AM

6 inches of snow overnight.. and it's awesome. I like snow.. it makes the winter look cleaner and more inviting.

It helps that I'm working from home and hanging out with the cats and horses.

Lasereth 03-02-2009 08:20 AM

After raining for 2 straight days, the rain turned to sleet yesterday and then at night into pure snow. We got about 4-6 inches which is abnormal for this area of NC. I am the only person that came to work today!!

Xerxys 03-02-2009 10:35 PM

Ha, Lasereth, I feel for you. Same goes here, although not necessarily a bad thing for me, though. At my workplace, when people are absent, I capitalize!!
