A Wrinkle in Time Author Madeline L'engle dead

I learned to love science fiction from that first introduction, and I have loved it ever since. What I really enjoyed about her books was the science that was involved. It was a primer to the cell structure as Meg ran about the mitochondria. Looking up the books now as a fresh reread, I find that there are two other books that make up what I thought was just a trilogy but it is now a quintet of time related books: Quote:

I read all three (I've never heard of Many Waters until today). I loved A Wrinkle In Time so much that I had my parents buy it for me so I could read along with my teacher as she read it aloud to the class. I reread it until the cover fell off and the pages fell out. It's a series I intend to introduce to my son when he gets old enough, because I'm not sure if he'll read it in school or not (I saw A Wrinkle In Time on a list of banned books once...I was shocked).
RIP, Madeleine.

Hands down one of my favorite authors of all time, I read everything I could get my hands on. I think this is one series I hope does not get turned into a movie, because I don't think they could ever even come close to do the worlds she's created justice.
Only other book that came close, for me, was The Giver, by Lois Lowry.

I read the entire series, and some of L'Engle's early serious fiction as well, but my favorite book of hers is her memoir, Two-Part Invention. I read it first as a young teenager, and found it to be a beautiful story about human love and loss.
The world has lost a fantastic artist.

She wrote some fantastic poetry as well... I don't remember the name of the collection I picked up at a used books store, but it was lovely. This makes me want to go back and read Wrinkle in Time over again, since I think I'll pick up a lot more this time.
