Your best online shopping resources thread

OK, I don't know if there's another thread like this one but here goes.

Everybody has a few websites that have the absolute best prices on merchandise. I'll post mine and hope to hear about some of yours.

www.dvdpricesearch.com - this site is actually a hub that collects prices from all the other major ones and has fantastic features that allow you to compare prices and link up to the other sites. Try it and you'll see what I mean.

www.xpbargains.com - there are acually a few sites like this one that lists coupons for buying computers and peripherals. On that site I found a Dell coupon that was good for only 20 hours - it allowed me to buy a notebook for about $800 off.

www.dealnews.com - another source for coupons overall.

www.bluefly.com - some designer clothing - if you look carefully you can find some great deals

www.grapevinehill.com - even better than bluefly. I got a pair of Bruno Maglis for %40 off here.

www.amazon.com - obvious source for used stuff

I'll add a few other ones if there's an interest in this thread. I'm really hoping to find even more good sites from y'all.

ironman 10-09-2006 08:25 PM

www.slickdeals.net and www.fatwallet.com
Between the two of them, i've printed over 400 pictures for little over $10.00, bought a canon sd450 (a year ago) for $250 including a 1gb sd card, a dell axim x51v for $280.00, a shoqboz for $10.00, an xbox 360 premium for $325.00 and so on...

snowy 10-09-2006 08:41 PM

www.newegg.com --for computer stuff

They rock my socks.

ngdawg 10-09-2006 08:46 PM

Jerry's Artarama I get precut mats for $1 a piece, just got some black frames for $4 each and they have almost everything I could possibly need.

MissTiger 10-09-2006 10:31 PM

www.ebay.com, of course.

Tamerlain 10-09-2006 10:44 PM

www.woot.com Not really the same as the sites that have been posted, but still an interesting site to buy things from.

I'm disappointed grapevinehill.com doesn't ship to Canada - I've found two pairs of shoes I really want.

Half.com is where I buy my college textbooks. The international editions are often exactly like hardback books, only with a soft cover.

Ironman, kudos on the slickdeals reference. It's great.

http://discountdvds.com/ and discountcds have great prices on their respective media.

Glory's Sun 10-10-2006 06:23 AM

http://www.spoofee.com/ has some great coupons and free items available sometimes. I check it once a day. Got some golf balls for free .. oh and some KY Warming stuff free too.

sapiens 10-10-2006 06:36 AM

I've used http://www.addall.com successfully to search for books in and out of print. The offer price comparisons for 41 online booksellers.

Sage 10-10-2006 06:36 AM

Slickdeals and newegg, definitely. Hubby crusies both regularly.

www.stockroom.com

JT's Stockroom- the oldest sex store on the internet. Yeah, they have lots of fetish stuff too, but they have tons of EVERYTHING and really really nice pictures to boot. I order all kinds of stuff there- they also have a nice clearance section and a daily sale. They also have AMAZING customer service- if you call the 800 number you get a human being on like, the second ring. And those human beings are incredibly informative as well!

www.goodvibes.com

Good Vibrations- another great sex store. They're awesome because they test every single one of their products and rate them accordingly. I like them a lot.

I love this thread!

Everything I use has already been posted (slickdeals.net and such).

I'll recommend Steep and Cheap for any outdoor enthusiast.

I also have to add Tiger Direct because they actually ship to FPO and APO and other military addresses, and do it rather quickly (two weeks to get something to a forward operating base in Iraq is very quick in my book).

billege 10-10-2006 05:58 PM

http://www.techbargains.com/ is pretty much my source for good tech sales. It's similar to the previously mentioned xpbargains, but the site appears better formatted to my eyes.

BTW: those limited time only Dell cupons? They repeat every 2 - 3 weeks, don't get overly excited. The same cupon will pop up again in less than a month. That said, my wife and I waited until one we wanted came back around and took $750 off her laptop.

I'll throw in on http://www.newegg.com/
They rock. There's nothing more to be said if you need PC stuff.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/ is good for the same stuff as newegg, but Tiger's a little bit shadier. Your odds of buying crappy goods here are better. Then again, if you're a beliver in "if it sounds to good to be true, it is" then you'll be fine. I got a remanufactured printer for a good price, had no problems with my order, and the printer rocks.

http://www.thinkgeek.com/index.shtml for geek stuff. That's self explanitory.

http://www.retrobox.com/rbwww/home/ good site for me. This is a Columbus OH business (well, until they were recently purchased) that sells off-lease PC equipment. They are honest in product description and have good service. If you want a couple year old laptop for a good price, this'd be the place to look. Or, you've always wanted an HP 8100n at home, this is the place to get one. The stock changes pretty often. Just read the descriptions and you'll have a great time.

http://www.popsoda.com/index.html great place to buy unique soda pops.

longbough 10-10-2006 06:36 PM

www.chocoholic.com and www.chocosphere.com - these have hard to find chocolates from all over the world. They're the only source I currently have for Galler Chocolates of Belgium (they make the chocolate for the royalty of Belgium) - Just try even their basic milk chocolate bar ... it's absolutely heavenly! It's really THAT good!

If you happen to collect fountain pens the best prices are at: www.penstoponline.com (not a huge selection but some knockout prices occassionally pop up). Also good are: www.swisherpens.com www.penspiration.com www.hisnibs.com

www.watchseller.com has great used quality wristwatches!

www.iwantoneofthose.com speaks for itself

cyrnel 10-10-2006 07:17 PM

I have to pump zipzoomfly.com as a newegg alternative. I've had excellent luck with their customer service while newegg has chewed my behind several times. Prices are a tossup. Newegg usually has a larger inventory, but zzf ground shipping is usually much less than newegg.

longbough 10-10-2006 07:28 PM

I just started looking for good mid-high end wristwatches:
www.worldofwatches.com looks promising. I see an Omega Seamaster Titanium wristwatch for 43% off! Does anyone else happen to have a nice source for wristwatches?

la petite moi 10-10-2006 09:51 PM

Anyone like http://www.etsy.com ?

It took ZZF over a week to get back to me with a return number for a faulty motherboard I ordered from them. Then I had to ship the motherboard back ($20) and wait another week before they shipped another one out--in the meantime, I heard NOTHING from them at all about it, and had no idea what was going on. An email would have been nice. The only reason I knew the motherboard had arrived at their facility was because of FedEx's tracking.

I don't think I'll be ordering from them again.

cyrnel 10-11-2006 07:57 AM

This could easily sidetrack into Merchant War 2006 so I'll just say my newegg experiences sound similar.

I'm sure they all have a few, uh, bad eggs. Heh.

MexicanOnABike 10-11-2006 08:48 AM

http://www.half.ebay.com/ its still ebay but this is like amazon. buy DVDS,Books,Games,etc..

Jove 10-11-2006 09:43 AM

JourneyEd You have to be a student to purchase the software, but it is a fantastic deal since you can buy Adobe Photoshop CS2 for $240.
E Direct Software
Overstock

cyrnel 10-11-2006 09:57 AM

buycheapsoftware.com

Some great prices, some so-so. My heaviest use is for business AV software. ($10-15/yr/system)

micah67 10-14-2006 11:41 AM

www.gotapex.com - especially if you're in need of a computer or laptop. Daily lists of the best deals or coupons on other sites.

zkara 10-24-2006 11:43 AM

www.zappos.com

Shoes! Oh my god shoessss!!!

Free shipping is always good. Free shipping BOTH ways is fantastic.

clavus 10-24-2006 01:07 PM

http://www.sciplus.com

They stock exactly seven metric shitloads of things you didn't know you need at prices you can't refuse. Robot parts? Got 'em. Paint brushes? Got 'em. Magnets. Motors. Tubes. Tweezers. Gas masks. Got 'em all.
